For me doesn't matter how much time they take as long as it is propotional to the new content. Short time with little content it's ok, but when it's been 9 months and the only new thing is a bad scene and 5 dialogues. I'm out.

It depends on how broken or incomplete the current game is. I never really think about it but if I do that means the game's base is REALLY good.

İ believe 3 months are short for a big update and small updates can be stacked to play again. so i say 6 months for minimum 2 small update length

Quality over quantity. Better to have rare and small updates with good writing and art than frequent slop.

I know that some devs get burnt out and others have RL issues- but I usually wait 12 months without any update before calling the game abandoned

Some developers can justify waiting 5 or even 6 months, but they are exceedingly few in number who can do so. Most however cannot be since their updates are like 2 scenes and last all of 5 minutes.
