Sometimes, a game's characters and action will be hot as fuck but the game itself is obnoxiously grindy or super boring, or you're really not into the story. A gallery unlock feature solves that problem. Even withot a gallery function, if you're playing a ren'py game, you can just unren the image files and fap away.

That's a curse. I use it sometimes too, but it takes all the excitement out of the game.

I certainly get it for kinetic novels if folks are just going to skip the text anyway but when the sex in integrated into gameplay its a little tougher to do

I like just seeing how many scenes the different girls have. I prefer a blurred out screenshot, but even if it's just a picture of padlock it makes it easy to see if there's something I missed or if there's a path to work towards. I also liberally use urm to unlock things if I don't feel like grinding any more.
