Hi there, it's been awhile. You've probably noticed that I've been MIA for quite some time and that's because I recently got sent back to school.
I decided to stay a month longer after resumption so I could at least release a medium length update before going back but as you can tell that absolutely did not work out as intended since we're still stuck In version 0.02. It's crazy that I was able to get out version 0.0.1 of Hemsworth Manor while learning the basics of renpy and koikatsu and also working 2 low effort part-time Jobs but I still haven't been able to get anything out even with almost a month of extra free time because of life's bullcrap.
And now once again, life has thrown another pile of garbage at me.
I know I know, I haven't even released up to version 5 of my VN but I seem to always have bad news and this time it seems my graphics card might have finally bit the dust.
I was working on a sex scene to end the first day when my laptop suddenly gave me the blue screen. It stayed like that for a long time and I eventually felt forced to use the power button. I'm not sure if that made it worst but ever since then I've been getting a No Bootable device found error when I try to turn it on.
Of course there were warning signs before this but there was really nothing I could do. From weird whirring to the occasional beeping I could tell that things were going south but I could only ignore it and move on.
I'll be taking my laptop to get it checked out this weekend and I'm hoping that my hard drive is still alive (probably not) and even if it isn't my maps, cards and Renpy folder have been backed up on a separate hard drive. The only thing I'll have to redownload would be the Koikatsu application but that shouldn't be too hard.
I'll try my best to get back into things but I'll be honest, if I ever have to deal with more computer problems like this after I manage to fix this current one, I will be quitting. I have no problems with sleepless nights, those are child's play when doing something I enjoy but, constant tech failure is something I have grown to hate since I started my dev journey. I can't count how many times my laptop has frozen or crashed mid rendering or during character creation and I'd have to redo stuff that took me hours to make. It's been really really frustrating.
Alright that's all for now, I'd be surprised if you actually read this far and all I can say is thanks for reading my rant. As for those who didn't I honestly don't have the energy to do a TLDR so.......
Here's hoping that this isn't anything too bad. I'm kinda hoping that it's only my hard drive that got fried or something because I at least have a 20gb spare. Anything other than that would mean that Hemsworth manor would be going on indefinite hiatus and I don't think this work is solid enough to survive that.
Once again I'm really sorry for being the bearer of bad news again.
