Overview:
Rei Tsukiyora is a jaded man who runs a pawnshop in Miyogawa’s seedy underworld.
One evening, he comes across a despondent Akari Hashimoto fleeing from her captors.
Unable to abandon a young girl to the dangerous streets, Rei begrudgingly takes her in,
offering her a reprieve until she finds her bearings.
One thing leads to another, however, and Akari’s stay becomes more… permanent then he had envisioned. For Akari, who has only led a high-flying life, and for Rei, a man living by the skin of his teeth, life together is… manageable (if not amusing).
While Akari may have renounced her past life as a heiress, fate won’t let them go that easily. Akari’s entrancing looks and eminent status catch the eyes of Ryuichi Satou. As the head of Miyogawa’s largest company, he spares no resources on seducing her. An irate Ryuichi even accosts the pair at Rei’s residence, though Akari flatly rejects him.
Humiliated, the scorned prodigy concocts a grand scheme that will lead to the hostile takeover of Akari’s company, and eventually, her heart. He swears to sully every fiber of her innocence. As for Rei… Ryuichi vows to bury him in an everlasting abyss.

This chapter is voiced and contains 4,500 words. Akari may have a few voiceless lines; these will be added in at a future date. (I was working on this chapter when the voice actress was finishing the first batch of recordings.)
Chapter 2 has several under-the-hood improvements such as bug fixes, improved audio quality, and prettier text animations. I had intended to bundle this with Chapter 3, but I’ve decided to release it early while I let Chapter 3 cook. Anyhow, let me know if there are any bugs or the sort in this build

hese will be revoiced in v0.2.
No romantic scenes in this one since it’s all about the slow buildup.
However, there are a few spicy scenes if you’re into “that.” Next release will turn the heat up.

While it‘s celebrated as a land of promise, don’t let its glittering lights distract you from the squalor that lies underneath. The beautiful walls may appear polished to perfection, but a solid foundation cannot rest on a rotten core…
Can Rei, a broken man whose life is on the mend, hope to oppose the sinister machinations of Saitou Corporation? Or will he and Akari be swallowed by Miyogawa‘s darkness, to be strung along like broken puppets?
Heartsworn Abyss is an interactive visual novel. Key decisions will have to be made at several points in the story. Miyogawa is an enigmatic place replete with events that are both absurd and inevitable. Abase, betray, lie… do whatever it takes to get by. Only through tainting oneself can one hope to slog through the mire…
