I've been thinking about upgrading to a better gaming laptop, but I just don't know a lot about the technology and hardware. What's considered a good setup and does anyone know where to get a good deal?

It might help a bit to write out what you use your laptop for and what kind of games you like to play! Someone who plays mostly indie games is going to need a different setup than someone who plays the latest AAA titles at max settings. In general though, I usually recommend that you start by seeing if anyone in your area is trying to sell second-hand. I've bought my last two desktop PCs used and haven't run into issues, although obviously YMMV, especially since Laptops can age a bit more poorly than desktops where you can swap out parts easier.

Since youre asking here instead of reddit, an rtx 5060 or 5070 would do you good as porn games arent demanding. I'd say prioritize on getting an I7 cpu. I5 is fine but if youre given the chance, get a better cpu rather than gpu because theyre too expensive for what they offer.

I have a predator helios, works well but the bios updates/ future support is terrible

Whats your price range?

Im sure you've heard it before, but unless you have to have a laptop for portability, you'll get a lot more for your money with a desktop. I was on the gaming laptop life for a while with work travel and ran into so many headaches. Poor laptop keyboards, always need to be wired while gaming or you tend to get much lower performance on battery, mice wearing out faster from being carried in a laptop bag. Plenty others.
