What are your favorite game settings and genres?

Slice of life, school or tropical island are my top settings. If the story weird me to much out and don't catch my interest, I drop it very quickly.

Think this also has to do with what is available / what is being made at the moment.
Sure there are a lot of vn's being made.. but lets be honest.. There are very few actual good ones with good renders and a good written story.
+ the good ones tend to take longer releasing updates.
So the good ones get a ton of fans, even if you are not all that into the genre simply because of the renders and the good writing.
I'm waiting for the new update of Waifu Academy... I not really into the school / college genre... young dude mc going (back) to school or a new school ,, you know the general story line that has been done and is being done in so many others.
but i like the writing, the comedy/jokes that is used, the way music is used to enhance the scene, and the general flow of the relationships.
So i'm waiting for it and looking forward to playing it.
Unlike what i do with most of the other games. They are more of a play to pass the time in between updates i look forward to,, or in between AI renders being finished on my desktop .

I voted for Slice of life and medieval,,, + fantasy and sci-fi ,,, cause if i'm in medieval times,, that's what it is as well.... + i like Eternum for the same reasons as Waifu Academy,, so i had to add those tags.

Agree with the poster above, post-apocalyptic games like "Hot Sand of Antarctica" and "Desert Stalker" are top notch!

Fantasy for sure. Not only is it the best setting it also sets up the most interesting non human characters.

Medieval has to be one of my favorites mostly because you get to miss the "justification of incest speech". I get why its done but it always goes on too long in every other setting. Fantasy would be next because scenes get a bit more creative.

Considering the focus on hgames is the relationship progress and getting closer to other characters, I legit can not choose a favorite setting.
In overall gaming I go with high fantasy or sci-fi. Miss me with those current day or modern day boring worlds.

Medieval and fantasy are a main fav, I wish Cult settings thrillers and psychological horror were explored more tho.
