Yeah, I think at least an slider would be nice!
so you can make it disappear if you don't like it or if it's hard to read you should also be able to obscure it.

this has to be the biggest issue in any avn I have played, I don't mind lack of other qol things.. this is a must have.

I agree that every game should have this as an option. And I just had an idea that would solve this and also take care of lots of other issues: something like Steam, or more to the point like Lutris, but for Ren'Py games distributed in the usual places. It could come with a set of Ren'Py engines that could be used instead of the packaged ones, making it possible to run games packaged only for the wrong platform. And it could come with the ability to inject various standard mods such as a textbox transparency option in the settings or a universal gallery unlocker. Just by ticking an option on or off one could install or uninstall such a mod. Perhaps one could easily give anonymous feedback to a server as to whether such a mod works for a specific game or not. The results could then be used by other players to automatically install such a mod. The application might even repackage Ren'Py games for zero or more platforms, optionally compressed, optionally with mods. And it would provide a nice interface for selecting games. (Maybe even for downloading them. The download would be via a browser, and the application would then look in the file system for the downloaded file and import it automatically.) Maybe even automatically repackage everything as a ZIP file with no engine or other platform support data to save space.

The beauty of this idea is that it would attack the problem in two places. It would be an immediate solution for players, but also a convenient tool for repackagers making the improvements available to people not using the application. Most of the functionality would work just with random Ren'Py archives, but there could also be metadata files improving the user experience for the games they cover. Overall, this application would be very useful without requiring too much development effort.

This should be a default option in some engines like ren'py

In my experience, I don't see many without the option. My issue is often with the contrast ratios and fonts.

It would be good, sometimes I play the original language and it doesn't have a textbox but when I play translated in my language, the translators incorporate the textbox and I have a great advantage

If the dev isn't going to check the text against every background or use the white font with black outline then some sort of text box with opacity is needed. It is really annoying when you have to struggle to read the text.

The textbox without transparent is very annoying

Nah transparent textboxes make it hard to read on some backgrounds
