Blast from the past. I used to have to get mp3s from torrents and remember it would take hours to download one on dialup.

What is winamp ?? Media player ?
Winamp was THE mp3 player before the time where the functionnality was included in the operating system. It was fast, not CPU hungry (even if Soritong was even lighter), and extremely user friendly.

Never even heard of it.

Last time I used winamp, I was on MySpace.

I used to use WinAmp to burn bootleg CDs of concerts back when I was part of a "tape trading" group.

I still whip the llama's ass.

I have a large library of mp3's from the pre-streaming days, winamp is lightweight and doesn't try and force an internet connection to play local mp3s

I don't even use Win, let alone Amp

Oh Me ME ME,,,,, runs like a charm,,, and there is the new version around. think it got released last year or so. Anyway they are working on the old and a new version
I still use the old classic one.

Also if you guys want names from the past ;)
KaZaa is what i used to dowload the mp3 files,, and napster and blupster after that
Also used WinMX.

Now i just rip the songs i want from youtube with a audio ripper extention.

Oh sweet God, KaZaa before everyone figured out it could turn into a malware farm, lol. Limewire, Emule, had all of em. On topic, I don't use Winamp anymore but I loved it. I used to love the random streams you could watch too, from porn to random people in Canada just sitting around shooting the breeze. As far as downloading goes, it can still be better to get music and movies downloaded and then stored offline. Artists and studios have a bad habit of deciding you still don't own something even if you paid outright and aren't just doing a subscription fee.

I thought that dinosaur died.. I used it in 95... I think ..if not 90s sometime for sure... dial up on aol.. friends on aol messenger said download it so hours later it was done.. used it for years downloaded on kazaa or bear share and of course napster

I have been using it for over 20 Years now. It just works perfectly fine, no reason to change.

winamp is going open source in September !
now if only we could get open source foobar2000

Stopped using it like 15 years ago, i have good memories of using it though

No, I find it doesn't work well with big music libraries. MediaMonkey is good though

Yes. But I mostly listen to streamed music now.

Never heard of Winamp but it seems to serve the same function as foobar2000. Is foobar worse in any way?

I kinda miss winamp. I still have the app, just don't touch my compy too much anymore, and don't have music on my hard drive

Dang just this post alone shows my age. Making me feel old over here.
