Does Anyone Else Drop a Game When Old Saves Don't Work?

Space Journey X is a pretty bad offender to the point that the dev added so many skips to get back to where you were to compensate. It's a shame too, because the game has a number of things going for it. When I first ran into it, I dropped the game for a substantial amount of time.
Agreed. Waiting for the "Complete" tag.

I dropped Knightly passions until it finished after redoing the game 2 - 3 times

I'm one of those who restart the game to get into the mood again, especially when the game has little content per update

It's usually pretty easy to skip to where you want. The only annoying thing is unskipable transitions.

only if it's not a renpy game
otherwise I just skip everything until I get to that place where I left off last time

It depends on how far into the game I am. If it will take an hour to get back where I was, I'll drop the game.

mostly drop y, specially if have already had to replay game not long ago. am really not fan of endless replay of same thing, there are too many games i havent yet. i rather do those, but they usually go on side and are waiting to be completed or me bored when years pass and want to replay. got bunch of those.

For me, depends on the game and how far I have to go to get caught up again.

With me using mods most of my saves always end up corrupted, or not compatible so no I just do a fast replay.

At times I tell myself "I'll pick it up later when I have time", but usually I forget.

Wouldn’t fast forward be the alternative?

I often wait for the complete tag, but for games I particularly like I don't mind replaying them. The Guardian is a good example, I actually like replaying it since there are several scenes I like to stop at and take care of business, so it's a pleasure to replay it.

It depends on the game. For some games with a certain level of replayability, I don't mind as much, or if I played it a long time ago.

I usual just replay them and sometime find new scenes that wasnt in before.

Depends, if it's an old game where I haven't play it for a while then sure, otherwise no

I also want to say that from a technical standpoint I do have a good understanding of why old saves are incompatible with newer versions. Having worked with databases a fair amount and knowing what a pain in the ass it can be to upgrade an old database schema to a new one when there are major differences between the old and new.

So I might be more forgiving of old saves not working because I look at it that way. It is still sometimes a pain in the ass, but I get it.

I just can't be arsed most of the time, with a few exceptions of course.

It doesn't help that newer Renpy versions now have save DRM were if a save is modified it wont load.

Unless you edit the token file, or use an online site to do it automatically.

Usually don't have this problem since I like to wait for a game to be completed.

Not at all, I usually check out a game and if I like it I wait for it to be completed and then restart.

Though I have been burned a couple times by a game going to shit towards the end, like DMD and DfD.
