Do you think that AAA games should add explicit sex scenes?

While I agree that the taboo of sex in video games is stupid, it's not something that would make me buy it, I'm more concerned about Gameplay >> Art Direction>>History

Adding sex won't improve the gameplay and I'm not booting up Mass Effect to get horny to it. Seems like a largely unnecessary addition.

Closest I can think of is cyberpunk. But thank God for Moders with our mindset

i think it solely depends on the game and if it is an element that adds to the story or not, just adding lewd scenes for the sake of lewdness would be dumb for a AAA company to do because it would more than likely diminish sells to an extreme degree. Women are very sensitive to this topic as is i don't think we need mainstream video games giving them something more to bitch about.

The irony of modern entertainment: mass killing is ok to show, but one boob and that's too far.

I would like them to have them. However, AAA studios have more pressing concerns, such as creating a quality game, rather than focusing on enhancing sex scenes. Additionally, including such scenes will increase the game's rating, which many developers prefer to avoid.

But it also heavily depends very much on which country you are in. In Germany, for example, there is a kind of dating show in which people are broadcast completely naked and uncensored.
the show is called "naked attraction"
In the music industry or in reality tv they are generally not very reserved when it comes to nude skin.
I will never understand why such a fuss is made about the games that show some skin.

mostly because there's still a bunch of old people in goverment that see video games as something only little kids play so they get all mad about nudity in them. Gambling mechanics are just fine.

100% if I know boob is coming up on stream I have to hide it on twitch. (American company so they hate boobs) so have to cuck audiences fkr the way the game is made. Kinda dumb

i blame the women

Dunno if you played Conan Exiles. But in the uk we had full nude models both male and female. But the us had them in cloth underwear. I hot so many free resorses by Americans asking for screen shots of their characters from my uncensored pov lol

You have to understand what kind of trauma such a naked breast could cause. How could you compare that with gambling addiction and a ruined life?

idk if about adding them to mainstream games, i mean it be cool if GTA or Cyberpunk had them, but realistically it would probably affect their image and maybe their bottom dollar, INSTEAD i would rather they make their games way more accessible to modders, that way anyone who wants to make such a mod and add animations or scenes like that to a game, those who are looking for it will find it.

I always understand the reasons behind why this tirade against nudity happens, and it is pretty weird how socially acceptable murder has become over sex...

But like, beyond a bit of horniness, I really see no reason why there would ever be any use in the inclusion of explicit sex scenes.

The issue with sex scenes is they tend to interrupt the gameplay. So unless you've got a cinematic game that's built for cutscene interruptions (like the last of us or cyberpunk) or an rpg with downtime for conversations that the devs can slot sex into, sex scenes become something to be avoided. So they'd have to make a game that's 100% focused on sex as part of the game, which probably wouldn't be very profitable. I think that's why the best spot for sex games is the indie scene: either games that don't look great but have a lot of variety, or games that don't have much variety but look like AAA.

Oh ya its the womans fault xd or maybe its the kids fault. they make up a huge amount of the potential sales and most parents dont wanna buy their kids a game with explicit sex scenes. It also means that the game will have a stricter parental guidance code. Back in the day many retail stores wouldnt sell games with a "mature" rating. GTA san andreas actually cut a sex scene purely to avoid the "mature" rating. These days most is sold online but it still limits exposure. On steam u wont see mature games unless u change ur default settings.

this is false and inaccurate. Gta SA is rated M for mature and always has been.

You had such a decent comment going, and you just had to butcher it at the finish line huh...

Women are people too, same as men, and we also get horny. The problem is that usually if you just shove a sex scene in a AAA video game, it's clearly only there to bump up sales with men while objectifying women. If there is a fully realized sex scene with a woman enjoying herself, it actually receives a substantially larger backlash from men. (See Last of Us Pt 2 Sex scene)

The problem is that video game rating companies will rate games much more intensely if there's any sex. Our friend Marlog here was confusing "Mature" rated games, with an "Adult's Only" rating, which usually is only saved for video games with explicit sex scenes, such as GTA SA in the case of the Hot Coffee incident. This absolutely has an effect on video game sales, and is almost exclusively given out to games with sex scenes.

Obviously I'll just be called a dumb sensitive women for having a point... but like... please :/

I understand your points and agree that she probably meant the A for adults only, but thats not what she said so it made her statement false. And you cant argue that the majority of women don't get upset over being "objectified" (at least the majority of loud annoying women that we get to hear about), and the one scene scene from the last of us "guys" were upset about because it was basically a dude with a clit and a female head, I mean she had muscle mass that is almost unachievable for male body builders let alone female ones. If you're going to add a sex scene to your game at least make it a sexy one imo (sexy depending on your core base which for them is 12-25 year old males who didn't want to see that). I don't think you're sensitive otherwise i would doubt you would even be here, my last line was basically made because in my life experience its mainly been the women who have been the buzz kills on all the good and fun shit.
