I think if a game has a wider variety of options and routes that you can do the better. I'd love for there to be a game where you can do what you want. If you want to be a top, be a top; if you want to be a bottom, be a bottom. But personally, I don't mind if the protag doesn't align with me. It's definitely harder when said protag is a massive pussy or is dumb as hell. Like, I'm definitely not the smartest or hottest guy in town, but c'mon.

No, because I don't see myself as the protagonist even if I name myself Flamy in the game, so the only problem is if the protagonist is poorly written.

Only to a point, most video game protagonists are not like me, so I don't mind pretending to be someone else for a while, but if the difference is vast enough between my real personality and the MC's personality then it could take me out of it, especially since most AVN's are played from the MC's point of view.

Must admit, yeah don't like to play female protagonists because of it, but outside of that not really, and some female protagonists games are really god so. So I would dare to say It really doesn't bother me.

You can't really write a story for everyone to be able to self insert into. Some stories require it, some need a well defined MC. I think it's a categorical distinction, some games just aren't made to be relatable, but to experience a distinct point of view

No, actually, the MC is often very different from what I am. It's pure fiction.

I dont mind playing a protagonist that aligns with my current self, but the more they do align, I think the more I enjoy it

Yeah game has at least give me the option to “form” the mc thoughts and make him a little more like me

Most protagonists I play as do not align with what I am. If they did, I would be human garbage, or a woman.

Usually, yes. But there are levels to this. I need to relate to the protagonist, at least a little, if not it's going to be a stressful experience for me.
I don't play games with female protagonists and I'll drop the game if the protagonist is a submissive pussy, or a full-time dickhead.

It is very rare that there is a mostly heterosexual female who has a crush on her big brother. So I couldn't really play these games if I couldn't put myself into the position of other characters besides the MC.

I think the point for me is to play someone that is not me. Someone with different values and choices in life.

I depends on whether I can relate to the MC. I mostly like male MC as long it stays withing the kinks I like. I would like to play more female MC games but most I have tried the female MC has not real control over anything that happens and that kills it for me. Ultimately I think it comes down to choice for me, if a story tries forcing me into kinks I don't like without any control I will stop playing.

Can't stand playing a male protagonist that is genuinely evil
