Cooking to me has always been something time consuming and which I put the least effort in to get it out of the way. However recently I've become more interested in making more appealing dishes albeit still being very unskilled.
I'm hoping this thread could become a discussion place of tips for cooking, others sharing their history in cooking, and of course posting pictures of cooking!

I'll start by sharing a stir fry I made a few days ago, which I felt quite happy about. Not much to really say as being honest the vegetables came in a pack so I had to only boil them and the udon noodles together. I'm definitely nowhere near the cleanest cook..

Today I was also at an asian supermarket and saw duck feet, being super confused and curious I looked up a recipe, bought the ingredients and tried to follow . I'm not 100% sure what went wrong but man it tasted like shit. The duck feet tasted like really strong perfume (I assume I kept the broth and the duck feet boiling together for too long), and the bones made it very hard to eat the skin. I really hate wasting food but I had to throw it out... I've still got quite a few ingredients for Asian recipes so if anyone knows any recipes that aren't too hard please do tell. I'm thinking of making paella next (without clams...not really a fan of those).

The smell of the duck was so powerful that I can still smell it....

Goodporn, fuck yeah!

Stir fry looks a bit... meeh... but the meat looks delicious! Great renders, no unnecessary gameplay, like the models.

F*** off asian dish! You have to start with Italian food! or with simple france dish.

Our protip is to make some things in bulk and then freeze.

There's a lot of stuff that's easier to make in large portions, as well as not requiring more time. I make a huge pot if pizza sauce witch I then portion out in a bunch of small ziplock bags. Voila, instant tomato sauce at the ready for pizza, meatballs, lasagna and whatever.
Wifey does the same with her Indian base sauces, which are hopeless to make in small batches. Then, just cook up some chicken and plop into a sauce portion.

I also make a stack of half cooked pizza crusts and put in the freezer. Just take one out and let it thaw for a couple of minutes and it's ready to go. Yeast have no problem being frozen.

You can try this.
I have called it a "falsa carbonara", they are the same ingredients but without pasta (spaghetti)

2 eggs, 100g bacon (cubes), pecorino romano cheese (or similar if you have truble to find it), black peppers, extra vergine olive oil (2 spoons)

It a simple omelette
1.start by cooking the bacon in a pan (5 min)
2.beat the eggs in the meantime and add the black pepper and the grated cheese
3.add the bacon to the eggs after it has cooled a bit
4. fry everything in a pan with the oil, turning it around a couple of times (let it dry a little first on low heat)
5.after, serving with cheese curds if you want.
I recommend a nice red wine to pair it with ;)

I won't give my recipe, but you should look up Aglio e Olio. Always use a recipe that includes red peppers, you can get away with dried crushed red peppers in a seasoning jar. Always use fresh garlic, it's a must. Takes around 20 minutes, super easy cleanup, and absolutely delicious!

Anyway, Google or whatever search engine you use or YouTube an easy to make version.

Don't use crushed peppers. Use it whole and cut into two or three pieces.

intact they can be stored hanging in a dry place. I use crushed red peppers to make "hot" tomato sauce 😋

my cooking's really basic but im trying to branch out my skills, for no other reason than i get sick of having the same shit

I can't really cook except for a few simple things:cry:

I can't cook for the life of me...I always find some way to screw it up

Trying to avoid fast food and began ordering a 'do it yourself' meal plan. They send you all the stuff and you put it together and cook it. After a couple of months I've kept all the recipes and now buy all the ingredients and cook meals myself. Really easy. Mediterranean is my fav.

I personally recommend to look up on YT he tries a lot of old school baking recipes
