For now, mime and apollo have full control over LC and will be handling site decisions going forward. I’m stepping back from making site changes for now and letting them decide how to move LC forward. - Jack Of Blades

What do you like to collect as a hobby. Anything, even something weird.

I personally collect knives, swords, axes, spears, etc.

I've enjoyed all sorts of close combat weapons since I was a child. I used to buy anything that caught my eye, by over the years I've condensed my collection down to items of only quality.

Knives are fairly basic, I've a few dozen ranging from basic pocket knives to a few OTF pocket knives. I am a fan of kukri, owning several fairly nice ones from a smith in nepal.

Axes are a lot of fun. I prefer tomahawks, but have an assortment of hachets and and even smaller hand axes I can use for cooking while camping.

Swords are my main like. I've got a good amount. Of course I have the expected katana, but my collection mainly ranges from middle eastern to western blades. I've probably accumulated a few thousand dollars onto my wall. my favorite being a longsword from a well known smithing group.

I haven't just collected, I have been taught how to use most of my swords. Japanese katans, European long sword and my favorite is military saber. I'mstill an amateur, but learning has always been fun, snd a good workout. I haven't been able to attend any local HEMA groups, but plan to when life settles.

So what kind of things do you all like to collect, and why?

I used to collect comics, specifically the X-titles.

I loved the stories & the artwork (mostly), but I really enjoyed the serial nature of the medium. It created such an ongoing sense of reading a story that would never end because life kept going. The characters were ususally well developed and for the longest time were my escape from the world that I did not enjoy being a part of.

It was only as the writting went really downhill that I stopped collecting when Civil War came out. I still think that was one of the absolute stupidest directions that the could have taken the idea of gov't registration of powers in the Marvel 'verse. The escalating cost also factored in as I had just moved cities & jobs when this all took place so it was easier to stop.

In some ways I'd like to get back into it but the few times I've read a few trades I find the depictions of some beloved characters to be too jarring and in certain cases too influenced by their movie depictions.

I never got into collect comics, though I have enjoyed a few.

I've only ever liked the Bew Wolverine comics with X-23 and Honeybadger. They got meh at the end, but I like the characters, and X-men are my favorite group.

Knives with a story are my collection preference. My favorite is one with a handle made from petrified wood.

I would like to start collecting shields, fantasy and historical, but I haven't had luck finding a vendor.

So, old antique knives? I have a nice damascus blade with a crazy wood handle. Here is a pic of one. The other pne is lost still in a box in the garage.

Christ, I thought my hobby was expensive.
Yeah, it definitely got out of hand in the beginning. But I've reigned myself back a lot and try to make much smarter decisions when it comes to buying/trading. I also had a brief stretch of collecting and building mechanical keyboards so I wasn't completely new to expensive hobbies ;-;

Mines boring I collect coins

Mostly Obscure Blu rays or campy horror, for example I recently bought a copy of El Topo and Lucio Fulci's Zombie

I keep collecting bills for my car project that my bank account hates.. 🤣
Apart from that, perfumes a la Jeremy Fragrance

Books on the history of antiquity. Both modern monographies and editions of primary sources - works of ancient authors. An expensive pleasure, I must say.
