This game has lost its way, imo. First chapter was brilliant and would have stood alone fine if the game had ended there.

I've always just edited the script file/files to remove step turds - landlady's/landlords - roommates - best friends. Changed names to mom dad sister cousin if needed.

And you do that for every new release?

Yes and it's usually pretty easy to do.

Script file that has character names I just open it in notepad and then open the old script file as well and just copy and paste the whole name group from the old one and paste it over the new ones and then save. Removing step/step- I can just do a search for step or step- in notepad and then use the replace option while leaving the change to blank and somethings like step- can be mass removed with one click.

If all you're doing is a search and replace for specific words you might as well just use a name changing script and that way you only have to do it once for a game. It's what I do for games that don't let you change the MC's name. Just throw in a script that changes the current name with whatever you want and voila.
