Can recommend Subjugation, by James Galloway. Basically my favorite long slow-burn scifi books, about a young engineer with a knack for new tech a couple of years after Earth is found by a matriarchal psionic alien species. Absolutely fantastic worldbuilding, character development, and a huge focus on (hidden) politics. The first book is standalone, and about 1000+ pages iirc, but book 2 - 8+ is one continuous storyline following the character directly after, and it is amazing.

In addition to the sites already mentioned, I've found archive of our own dot org to be a good site as well with a lot of stories and some decent ones if you look around a bit.

We're on an adult site, so I'm gonne name one of the best adult ebooks I ever read:

Innocent Devil's Harem. It even has a taboo version now, it's long, it's like 8-9 books. And only the first few you can read on Literotica.

Sometimes a bit much sex scenes, but the story itself is very good.

I read that one back in college. A Lit course on "20th century science fiction" - it was still the 20th century at the time.
