Manga that first got me into genre was Love Hina. And I still love it.
Then there's classics like Lone Wolf and Cub, GUNNM, Ghost in the Shell and 2001 Nights which are quite perfect.
And some newer favourites: Gate Jietai Kanochi nite Kakuri Takaeri, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou and Goblin Slayer.

I read all the Tokopop English translated Love Hina, which are now going for collectors prices. That is what i have nostalgia for, i never bought the new translation. My decades long manga love, Oh my Goddess came to an end. I mean to finish the Evangelion manga have to get the final volumes, i still have to read those and see the last rebuild movie.

Youjo Senki aka Saga of Tanya The Evil. Hands down the best isekai ever made

Hellsing, the manga that took 10 years to finish, he released 1 volume every year and for us that bought it we had to wait 10 YEARS to finish it!
But it was worth it, after that we got the Hellsing Ultimate anime that was made after the manga page by page, top 10 anime of all times!

Much more of a light novel reader, but my favorite manga's in recent memory have been Re;monster and I am the fated villain

Only manga I've ready in the past 10 years has been;
Demon Slayer: Absolutely dogshit, does work substantially better as an anime, but knowing where things are going I can't get invested in the anime. Do not read.

Attack on Titan: okay but wasn't worth reading, middle chapters were a pretty massive slog, and has some of the worst art I've ever seen outside of fancomics (does get better in later chapters but it's never better than good enough). Maybe read it if you're a big fan of the anime but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone just looking for a good manga.

Death Note: Massive recommend, especially if you like the anime. The last arc is handled much better in the manga, but outside of that the ride is mostly the same.

Berserk: Not much to be said here. Is it kind of overrated? Yeah. Still incredibly good. Most things that are overrated are that way for a reason.

Junji Ito is some great light reading (in the sense that they're short stories you don't have to get super invested into lol)

Satoshi Kon's manga (particularly Opus, which you'll adore if you liked Perfect Blue, and Tropic of the Sea).

Katsuhiro Otomo, who was Kon's biggest influence. Akira is of course incredible, but my favorite is by far Domu. Kind of a similar story to Akira but at a much smaller scale, and I think it's handled substantially better. It's in my top 3 books of all time, not just manga.

Chainsaw Man is aight (don't care much for the story anymore tbh but the art keeps me very invested, some of the most creative stuff I've seen in a long time, even if the artist isn't particularly talented technically compared to most of the previously listed things)

And Pluto is a must read even if you have no interest in Astro Boy (that does help you appreciate it more, but it easily stands on its own). I haven't gotten around to reading Monster (same author, also never saw the anime), I really need to do that at some point.
