does atlas store a backup for deleted files somewhere? it glitched out during import and deleted nearly all my games...

edit: it deleted everything...

Renpy? those are stored in your appdata by default when it comes to saves. the ones in the install is a fallback usually for the games.
Reporting it still though. Odd. what happened? had installs fail but nothing like that. so what went wrong?

You have to do a step by step retelling of what were you doing, which version, etc. especially since importing has nothing to so with the file systems besides reading what's in the folder and trying to match it with the dB

What were you doing? Whats the destination folder structure look like? how did it glitch?

ok so here is what happened:
on first install btw
set the library default game folder to my archive with all my games. some were already extracted some not.
it did not show anything in the library so i clicked on
Add->atlas game importer
set the game path to the same as my library because i thought it would add everything
set it to automatically extract everything and delete the source
did it again but this time clicked on only add unmatched game but still with deleting the source files
then i got an error message saying it needed administrator rights to delete the root folder. which was my library folder so i said no
then i got another error saying import failed and all my games simply dissapeared

edit: and because not everything was importet into the library, i don't even know what i've lost

Im going to attempt to replicate this. Atlas was not set up to delete folders unless you were removing games (This is a different process). When atlas says it will delete the source, it just deletes the archive; never the game folder. That, I have already verified.

as few additional questions:
1. what os are you on
2. what version of atlas are you on
3. was your games on a ssd, nas, external harddrive?
4. where were you files located? what folder? I will need to set it up similar to your set up to see how this was even possible.

Im going to attempt to replicate this. Atlas was not set up to delete folders unless you were removing games (This is a different process). When atlas says it will delete the source, it just deletes the archive; never the game folder. That, I have already verified.

3.hdd. i have 4 harddrives in my pc. atlas is installed on my 3rd ssd and the game folder is on my big archive hdd, the 4th harddrive in my pc
4.should be answered above.
i think the problem was that i importet from the same folder that it wanted to move the folders to? because now that i import from my download folder to my archive, its working without issues so far

edit: just to be clear; its not the end of the world for me, honestly. just fairly annoying because i have no idea what exactly i lost i'm a data hoarder anyway so clearing up a few hundred gigs of never played games is not that bad xD

And personally, can't say i have done the same path on the source and destination.
Its not exactly expected usage. But yeah, if it was all archives then it should extract and only remove the archive when its done if that setting was on.
I do believe it will clean up after itself and delete the folder when empty though.

Adding unmatched games, generally this is not wanted and if you got the games from F95 or LC then they are mapped out in AtlasDB so making a mapping will also help you as it will use the strings for the destination.

Replicating this seems difficult in anycase.

I had the same issue frankly for a while. close to 3tb of unimported games into Game-List before Atlas got more finished up.
Cleaned it all up now. Now i just use the built in downloader without issues.

Aslong as we have a record of the title in AtlasDB then you should be good. removed titles that might be from LC won't be on there but removed titles from F95 should potentially be there as it got backported.

Generally you shouldnt have such issues again with Atlas aslong as you either import the titles or add them to your wishlist in the client.

Did you had spare space on the HDD where the games where located? Like, you had at least the same space available than what your games weighted? Or was it almost full?

can you also give an option to completely disable anything steam? on some of the games in my library i only get the option to install through steam, which is impossible because steam is blocked in my country and i have an archive.

that really shouldn't happen.
But you can remove steam from the metadata sources in the settings i believe. Odd that you get that issue. any title specifically?

and i have 12 failed imports with the error message "tried reading properties:null" or something along thos lines. its gone too quickly to read completely

it feels like i'm nagging now which i'm really not. i just hope that everything i do wrong/error i find helps you guys somehow. i really like the app because it helps me keep my H-game pile organized

yeah it looks like it was one of the previous installed and became broken. had to completely delete the entry and redownload.
btw how do you use the integrated downloader?

oh sorry! didnt see your reply! (This is why Discord is better for me personally haha)
So you can trigger a download in the client from either browse mode or when the title requires an update.
Want to add an override to be able to force a download without needing an update though.

Please note that the download system currently ONLY works with F95 and ONLY for PixelDrain and Mega.nz!
But it does work well so far! LC support will come! need to iron out the F95 side first!
