Animation is not necessary for me. If I had to decide between bad animation and good images, I'd go with the still images 100%.

Animation - and not only for lewd scenes. I think it's good that even everyday scenes are sometimes animated. It adds a lot of immersion. Ultimately, while playing, we're interested in the characters beyond the erotic context.

I'd like to see always animated sexual scenes, but sometimes the animations are so bad that they ruin the atmosphere.
If the images are very good, i have not problem to play a AVN without animations, i'm used to see sexual scenes not animated... thanks to manga

Animated for sure would be ideal. I know it's more difficult, but (controversial opinion maybe) some of the AI tools out there today could help turn some static keyframes into a passable animation. I've seen a few where they're taking the rendering and using AI to give it motion. That way the design is still consistent between scenes and characters, but you get the extra movement.
