Could someone please enlighten me? Is this a new game, or sort of a remake of the abandoned ones, just age-uped?

Uh... No. It's not even remotely close to a remake of that. The remake of that game is SMTL not ATC.

Just a reminder that this is a BETA version and may contain bugs or issues. Please feel free to report any bugs or issues to us.
We did everything we could to maintain compatibility with older saves, and it works. However, if you own the DLC, you'll have to replay that scene.
If you encounter any issues with your old saves, I recommend starting a new game, or contacting us on Discord or here to report the problem.

If you want to play the DLCs later (which are still in development), you should save your game starting with this version. The saves will be compatible between the R and RP (Release and Public Release) versions.
We didn't have time to fully implement the option to disable animations. The option appears in the preferences, but it only works for two or three animations. I need a little more time to finalize the replacement renders.

Uh... No. It's not even remotely close to a remake of that. The remake of that game is SMTL not ATC.

To keep things confusing, ATC is actually the aged up remake of SMTL. That is SMT[LEARN} not [Love] which only made it into the alpha demo of the prolouge. But, correct SMTLove is the SSP aged up remake.

To expand it a bit more that OG demo never had legs and a lot of characters and story were cut from that. So ATC is new as it were

I'm pretty sure SSP => SMTL was only aged up but still has incest. The original SMTLearn had incest but that was apparently scrapped in ATC. Apparently since who else could Linda's father actually be? At this point she is not a inevitable LI and now we have time travel voodoo at play so anything can happen including our MC being his own wife's father. Aldor has left a very wide berth for incest one way or the other.

No you need a patch to enable incest in both remakes. Otherwise you are not blood related.

He offers one if you subscribe and the other game needs a fan patch.

Though one member dud release a universal mod for every Renpy game as well.

There is a menu at the start of SMTL that lets you define relationships. ATC there is no incest but there is a fan patch
