A HOME IN THE DESERT - 0.4BETA1 RELEASE!
Hello everyone, here we are! The long-awaited 0.4 (beta) release is finally upon us!
I hope you guys will enjoy it. It was a long development cycle for me, but a very satisfying one nonetheless, for a few reasons. One of them is that the game has never looked as much like a proper game as it does now, and I feel like this update is a huge step towards what will become a stable platform for Alice to blossom into the delighful pervert she is meant to become.
Now I understand releasing such a big update raises some questions among the players, so I might as well answer them now:
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
This update's highlights are:
A large amount of new events, especially compared to the previous updates. There is twice as much dialogue in this update as there was in 0.2, which was the initial public release, and the was the biggest release in terms of scenes before that one.
The introduction of Riley's career as a JustAFan model. This is the first baby step towards making money out of sex work, and it's quite symbolic as it's meant to be a major theme in the game.
Many new "scheduled" events, with the goal in mind to make the house feel alive and busy at all times. There are still a few holes here and there in some of the girl's schedule, but they are now more present than absent, and it's pretty nice

.
A new look for the overlay buttons. This is mostly for aesthetic purposes, but this was also necessary to support the future collectable system.
Simplifying the cooking system: no more calculating the batch size, no more carry weight in the shop, who to cook for... The cooking system is overall way more straightforward and simple than it was before.
Now, some major items didn't make it in the beta, but will be implemented for the full release:
Bedrooms renovation. Some characters will require their bedrooms to be renovated to start their job path. The new bedrooms also look way better than they do pre-renovation. This comes with a few main story events of course.
Said main story events. Those are implemented in dialogue inside the game, but they lack renders (and they may not be plugged into a quest either).
Cooking extension. If you make Alice work behind the stove one evening, a bright idea might come to her... This is just an extra scene for now, but this will have its use in future updates.
Music/Sound, this is a way more time-consuming thing to do than it may seem, and it will be done during the pre-release work.
WHY SUCH A LONG DEVELOPMENT CYCLE?
Well, the sad part was that I was originally planning this one to be shorter. At first I was only meant to work on the new overlay system, and the new schedule for the girls, but during the development cycle I thought that it wouldn't make sense to extend the girl's schedule if I didn't also add Riley's job introduction (as most of Riley's occupation is to take pictures), but then I also needed to make her JustAFan website, and then... Basically, it became a huge snowball effect to make this update make sense and be consistent.
In the end, it's not like I slacked off or anything, you still got extra things out of this long dev cycle, but I understand waiting so many months for an update is frustrating.
CLOSED BETA? THIS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!
Yes, it's the first time I limit the release to a supporter tier. This is done for 2 reasons:
First, limit the feedback to a certain number of people who might be really motivated to play the release. This will make whatever feedback I receive easier to manage, I think.
And second, I don't want the "general public" (meaning people who might not properly read release posts

) to get a wrong idea about this update. This beta doesn't really reflect how much work has been put into it after all (yet), especially with the major missing things I have yet to implement.
KNOWN ISSUES...
Again, this is a beta, things won't be perfect. My to-do list however is quite extensive, so chances are if you see something that can be perfected, it will be in due time.
Feel absolutely free however to provide feedback whenever you feel like it, or if you feel like it's relevant.
SO MANY WORDS, SO LITTLE LINKS...
Sorry the links are in an other castle, I mean, post!
But before you go...

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!
