discussion 3D Games vs sandbox vs RPG what is better and why ?

I particularly like all 3 but I always preferred sandbox, post your arguments.

When it comes to porn games, all three mechanics are mostly trash:

• Most 3D games are bloated, typically requiring Windows, dedicated video cards and dozens if not hundreds of gigabytes of disk space. Unless they have very poor visual quality.
• Most sandbox games are basically just visual novels where you can decide the order of some events. You typically pay for this with excessive grind of the type "go to bed, get up, go to work, go to some place at the right time to see if the one event you are still waiting for has finally triggered so you can go initiate the next 2-week waiting period while you have nothing interesting to do".
• I assume by RPG you mean RPG Maker game or similar, with walking around and fighting. Most porn games of this type are either visual novels with senseless 2D walking added to make everything much slower for no benefit, or are full of boring fights. (I am saying this as a fan of classical Wizardry I and similar simplistic, grindy RPGs. Porn games trying to emulate such games generally get the game loop wrong.)

For all three categories there are examples of games that actually make sense:

• While requiring Windows, the original Fallen Doll at least isn't too bloated and runs on modern office PCs.
• There are a few decent sandbox games, such as The Headmaster, where the sandbox mechanics doesn't suck too much. (But I don't know a single sandbox game that wouldn't be better as a normal visual novel.)
• Ataegina and Town of Magic are decent as RPGs. (Both using Ren'Py, not RPG Maker, which is not an accident!)

The only thing that works reliably for porn games is visual novels. For the proposed three mechanics, the developers generally lack the required expertise.

Personally I like a good full RPG, with some stats that you can max, a choice in the story that you can effect in some way, and a decent story that might take itself to seriously, but thats part of the fun.
If this is about porn games, I like the idea of sandbox games but go for those like Harem Collector or Overwhored instead.

Kinda confused by the question because these aren't really contrasting categories- you could have a 3D sandbox RPG, there's no conflict there.

For non-porn games, I prefer RPGs. For porn games, I don't have a preference.

I hate the more complex/bloated porn games cause im trying to play with only one hand. So when there's too many binds I hate it

Sandbox games are more interesting sometimes and have many unique mechanics that dont work in AAA games or RPG. That for normal games. For porn i love just 3d-porn-gallery and some sandboxes because of they engine and graphics, mostly hand-drawn frame by frame, absolute love for pixel style)

3d games are probably the worst, I can understand wanting the freedom of a 3d world but all I see is a combination of bad combat, terrible performance, rough controls/movement and sometimes terrible graphics caused by AA or effects

3D is good for the graphics but I like interactive VNS too.

The grind mechanics tend to bother me in some 3D games, which is why I end up leaving them aside.

The best is 3d, but it also takes the most work so a good 3d porn game is asking for a lot.
So generally for adult games the RPG/VN with choices format is better.

sandbox is fun but it kinda jars me out of the text story whenever it shifts. i'd rather have a VN with hidden easter eggs

3d games tend to have better "art"
Sandbox games tend to have better corruption mechanics
RPG elements I love, but I find the actual RPG movement (ala RPGMaker games) to be too annoying to deal with these days.

I usually prefer more linear VNs over everything else. I think pacing and anything story-related usually works better if it's not crammed into tedious gameplay.
