It's a monetization nightmare and a LOT of work. On top of that usually the work multiplies the longer the game goes on. For example if the story branches out. Do you change the MC's name and to what?
Pretty important. But it is nice if the main screen shows their original name too since it's easy to forget them and then discuss about the characters in discord servers -
