    Try Metropolis: Lux Obscura. It's a point and click game with puzzle elements in noir/comic style. I remember it had some mystery to solve, although I played it long time ago. Most AVNs are usually very linear, so probably not what you are looking for.

    Ren'Py for visual novels. Unity or Unreal Engine for 3D games. I hate RPGM. Even when the game has my favourite fetishes I won't play it if it's made in RPGM.
