That's on the dev to implement, and it's not that easy to do. Renpy may the easiest and you still have to separate out all the new images into their own .rpa and then replace all the script files each update. I didn't think compressed/uncompressed makes a difference unless your save has explicit image filenames for some reason. Title covers it all. There's a couple games that tend to release much smaller update .zip files as well as a full release, but whenever a new release comes out the previous patches get edited out of the game thread.
