I think that the fairest way to handle a remake of an abandoned game is to do a Continuation instead. Don't try to update the Original work of the Dev, but instead continue the VN as a New Chapter keeping consistent with the earlier intellectual property. How long until a game should have an abandoned tag?
I would consider a game to be abandoned once you lose contact with the Dev, or the subscribers cancel their subscriptions. As long as a Dev is discussing or posting updates, and there are subscribers paying monthly it's not really abandoned. It may be on life support though.- Dragonmede

What's your unpopular opinion about a popular game?
DMD is one of the few I've experienced in this genre. As far as LI's unless you are forming a Harem, less is more IMHO. Also, it took too long to reach completion. The first person "POV" is generally fine for me, but given the choice of having the side angle of a protagonist kissing the LI or kissing the neck IMHO is far better than having the LI mouth agape trying to deep throat the camera lense.
