getting coins for giving reactions would be stupid and make the whole system pointless because you could just go around and click like on every comment and generate none yourself. the system is meant to drive actual engagement and worthwhile content tends to attract reactions, especially from people that want to use the system as intended to foster an actual community and not just a spam farm.

That's exactly what happened many spammed the reactions to the point the rules were changed again.

Has to be said it seems humans don't like following rules and prefer to cheat the easy way if it's possible.

I do, but i understand that things are now different (everyone gets less, no trading, no giving away coins)
how the fuck does someone get a billion coins in a year?
that's 2,739,726 coins per day on average

I've been here for 3 days & i got about 1,000 coins, super butt fungus & salad that made me barf for 7 hours
0.3% in the bank gave me 3 coins interest on more than 500 coins
This is long, but no one is forcing you to read this, and I am getting paid while I type.

First: (To the best of my knowledge, the reason that this system was put in place was that before my time people would just set up an account with a burner email and make a complaint to a server or someone to have it shut down. Although nothing in this forum that I've seen is illegal, businesses just don't have the time to deal with it. So this site would have to start over. After a few times, this policy was put into place so that any 'do-gooders' would have to make some effort and just might see that it wasn't what they thought.

Second: (My experience.) When I started, I was trying to just get M+. This was rather new and required a lot more coins then than now. I found this thread and liked it. Although even after I achieved that first goal, I wanted P1 (also at a higher price back then) just to remove the timer. I was new to all of this, but others helped me and corrected me when I made mistakes. So I stayed, made posts, saved my fake coins, and collected interest. I didn't buy reaction packs or gamble. I just did the grind.

After doing so for nearly a year, I had 29,500 AC and was only 2 hours away from collecting 590 AC to obtain P5. Then this happened. And happened again and again. Finally, I did it. I achieved my goal with 81 AC to spare.

Then it was rolled back again, and not only did I lose my rank, my coins went down enough to where it would take me about 6 months to recover. That did not include that I was going to lose all of my 'Old AC' by the first of the year. That would be about 10,000 posts I would have had to make. (1 post + 1 like.) That was just too much to endure after the effort I had already put forth. So these mods came to my rescue. They knew the amount of perseverance I had done, and they made things good. I am starting over, but at least not from the beginning.

Third: (How did they become billionaires?) Simple math.

This site had an interest rate of 2% [compounded daily], not 730% annually.
To convert a daily interest rate of 2% to an annual interest rate, you can use the formula for compound interest:
Annual Interest Rate=(1+r) n −1
Where:
r is the daily interest rate (as a decimal),
n is the number of compounding periods (days in a year, typically 365).

Using the given rate:
r=0.02
n=365

Substituting these values into the formula:
Annual Interest Rate = (1+0.02) 365 −1
Calculating that gives:
Annual Interest Rate ≈ (1.02) 365 −1≈1377.41%
Thus, the annual interest rate would be approximately 1377.41%.

So if one had 1,000 ACs left after their purchases and collected their interest daily, after one year they would have 1,377,410 AC.
Doing the same, after 2 years: 1,897,258,308.1 AC

So, to answer your question, if you are still interested. When you have people posting almost every day, doing what they enjoy with already obtaining everything possible, why wouldn't they click on the "Collect Interest" button? It doesn't affect me but allows them some recognition for their effort.

Lastly, if anyone actually read all of this... WHY? Have a good day.

I didn't say the rest of the system was perfect, or even good, I was just pointing out how broken it would be if you got points for giving reactions. I could be wrong but, as I understand it, if your comments or threads get removed you lose the coins you got from them and I would imagine that spam threads would get removed somewhat reliably.

It is 4 degrees F (minus 15 C) out this Thursday morning -- makes me want to punch someone in the throat! After walking dogs -- I am going back to bed.

i have 18 Activity Coins, i liked your post & I have 18 Activity Coins
no wonder no one (or a minimum amount) likes posts
Make posts people will react to? What a concept, I know

no wonder no one (or a minimum amount) likes posts
The reason you like posts is because
  1. You actually "like" them
  2. you realize if you like someones posts they are MUCH more likely to like yours in return -- folks do keep track of suck things.

Because I want to know what you have to say. ❤️
Because I did not start at 1000. I started at 0. Then saved up for M+, which was 750 AC back then, and was back to 0. Then I saved up to P1, which was 4000 AC back then, and was back to 0. I did that so I would not have to wait 160 seconds. After that I just saved until I had enough. At the compound rate, you will save up in the last month as much as you did the previous year. That was the flaw the administrators were trying to fix. Getting to a point took a long time, but afterward, it multiplied like bunnies. This new system spayed me.

[Edit] That first year took them a year to get where they wanted to be. Then the next 2 years made them AC billionaires. Which they deserved. After all, it's not real money.

Well you managed it at last and can now rest and enjoy.
I did a quick check how long it would take me to get there with the current interest rate and 4k start capital.
Probably early 2028, if I'm not forgetting to collect interest every day at the same time (what I tend to do).

So, back to it

Idk what kind of black magic math did you use, but I just checked the internet calculator how much would you have after a year with 2% daily interest if you started with 1000 and it's around 8300 coins, not millions.

It doesn't happen that much, we have moderation, yesterday I saw two weird threads that looked more like bots than real people trying to abuse the system. We probably will rework coin system but right now we focus on LU page and progress is very promising. Original coin system allowed coin trading, it was designed that way so the richest users could reward new people who made an effort. Sadly, the richest users were more concerned about hoarding coins and participating in some pointless "who is the richest" competition than helping people so whole idea collapsed. Sure, there was me, Guz, Mime and probably few others who were helping new users but it was not enough. Trading system started to do more evil than good and so it was scrapped. I would boost you a bit, I saw your P5 angel, I really liked it, you could contribute nicely to P5, but for now just keep climbing.

It's not wrong. It adds up pretty quickly.
