With more and more creators being booted from subscription sites and losing total funding have we ever thought about the potential of making our own subscription platform specifically made for the unique talent of those developers who didn't belong to the other platforms? I don't have the skill; I am just a unity developer. But it was a thought that crossed my mind. What do you guys think?

The issue is not with the subscription services. The issues are with the payment processors that overreach to dictate the rules to the services that use them. Any other platform created will run in the same issues. And before you suggest it. No crypto is not the answer. At least not until it becomes far more mainstream.

In all seriousness, the only viable alternative is crypto. But this in itself is already a pretty substantial limiting factor. In theory, place like LC could sorta work as a hub for crypto funding "banned" creators. But this is only in theory, in practice this would require tremendous work and first and foremost willingness of all participating parties - hub administration, game developers and payers. This is a very big task, that will put all participating people under pressure. Plus its a crypto. I personally dont know a single person who deals with crypto.

Well you need to set up a whole banking system first, because no established payment processor is going to touch this. That is why those with the unique talent cannot receive any funding.

I mean, this site / owner did try making a new service to sell games for crypto. And the fact people don't know this shows how hard it is to get going or that it even exists.

One of the issues, I think, is that if games are difficult to aqcuire / embarrassing to buy, potential customers easily go for piracy.

Crypto is too difficult, and will convince most people to just pirate it.

I also think smol creators really need subscription based services to be viable, as pay once get once systems are doomed to fail due to piracy. But subscription doesn't work with crypto, as you can hardly set up automatic payments.
