Pretty much none of my mods come from steam, and even if they do, I usually remove them from the steam mod library to add them in my main mod folder, which is a good habit to have. Either way, if your mods are already installed from steam, they are already saved locally, so unless Steam force updates all your mods, to break them, you are going to be fine.

This is though steamwork shop games have it integrated you go to the menu-mods and see a list when a mod get's pulled from workshop its not there and of course not on steam so the game will break sense its using a internal mod loader.

Yes you can manually change that and find other ways but by default even though is local saved the game will not see it to load it.

Arent most mods away from steam like Nexus. Even when nexus bans them there are places to get the good stuff

Yes to a point like i posted above games on steam integrate the workshop so those mods stay on there and the game uses the worksop as a loader.

Another example is cites skyline

As far as I can tell, all the mod builds for the same Fallout 4 or Skyrim are located on sites independent of the same Steam. As an example, torrent trackers. Over the past 10 years, I've downloaded a couple of terabytes of these mods (mostly in the form of ready-made builds), without ever paying a dime for it. Therefore, I consider it stupid to create panic. But if you play by the established rules and pay for downloaded movies, TV series, and games to some companies/corporations, these are solely your problems.
Oh, yes, I forgot, you can get your ass kicked because of the content on your PERSONAL computer...
This is a problem of mutual relations between you and your government. You voted for them. Now enjoy it.

If you looked into this the mods are not in one country the rule of that country is worldwide youtube is also another platform affected.

Steam Workshop?

I usually used steam downloader to get mods off of steam but they updated the API so sites like those rarely work anymore.

Anyway I'm an old boomer who prefers using the Nexus and Moddb instead anyway. 🤷‍♂️

I think they will probably be hosted somewhere else. Like, you lose the convenience, but only that

Games have a mod loder only for steam so you can do this but getting the game to load them will be tricky.

They're not "uk now". They were always in the UK. And they have always deleted mods they didn't like.
People just didn't care that much back then, that's all. Heck plenty mod authors even left on their own.

is a good example or even .

I dont know a single porn mod that would have been posted on workshop. All of them are either from Nexus, Loverslab or definitely not that forbidden site that starts with A. Steam workshop in itself is awesome thou, especially for games that have big modding community.
