2 Years of Service
I just finished Daye's first sex scene so i'll get into this probably tomorrow.I didn't say it was never intended to be incest. I said that it was never intended to be specifically daddy-daughter incest with Eve and Daye. The relationships in both Christmas Eve and New Year's Day(e) are exactly what Jonesy intended from the very beginning. If you want to spoil yourself (major spoilers for the games including spoiling the reveal at the very end of the current release of New Year's Day(e)):
Kaylee is the MC's bio daughter, yes. This is explicitly stated in NYD by Mia, Kaylee's mother.
Eve and Daye are bio daughters of Heather and the MC's dad, making them actually his half-sisters.
Heather is actually the MC's long-lost sister Molly - she knew, and hid it from him, which makes Eve/Daye also the MC's nieces in addition to being his half-sisters. Becky also knew about Heather being Molly and might have known who Eve/Daye's real father was, and she hid it from him. Molly and their dad had been fucking since she was a child, and the MC and his mom had been fucking for the same amount of time, apparently. Some time after the dad left with Molly, he knocked her up with Eve and then again with Daye, and shortly afterwards, their dad (MC's, Heather's/Molly's, Eve's, and Daye's, all of whom are the same person) died and Molly/Heather went to find the MC and groom the girls for him, possibly as an apology for abandoning him to go get knocked up by their dad.
Eve and Daye are not the MC's daughters and were absolutely never intended to be.
Now, for my own commentary and speculation on the above spoilery information, which assumes you've read all of the above spoiler block:
I found this whole plot reveal to be a huge let-down, actively made New Year's Day(e) much worse, and retroactively made Christmas Eve much worse, IMO.
It was also not the big "gotcha" to the anti-stepcest crowd that some people seem to think it was (which is why my comments in this thread up to this one about it have been vague), because "uncle/niece" is a gigantic downgrade from "daddy/daughter"; the blood relation is an important part of the incest kink, but it's not the only part that matters.
The fact that Eve/Daye are technically also his half-sisters just reinforces that the MC has always been Heather/Molly's second choice. She was willing to lie to the MC for literally her entire life to protect their Dad, her real man, even though he was already dead!
It makes me wonder if the intent was to write a weak and pathetic MC who lucks into happiness by being willfully ignorant, and it's becoming frustrating to play the rest of the story because of it. Because this is a KN, when he remembers this, instead of feeling any betrayal, he finds it hot to think about, and (again because it's a KN), we don't get any choices about that, so I'm dubious and worried about how the rest of the game is going to go.
Because of this, it means Heather/Molly was the game's actual antagonist, and she can't be defeated because she's already dead.
For that matter, we have to watch her literally fuck the MC (in the memory/dream flashback) while still betraying him.
- Heather/Molly misled and betrayed the MC, over and over.
- Every time she made the choice not to tell him, that was another new betrayal.
- Every time she fucked their Dad, knowing that the MC loved her, that was another new betrayal.
- Every part of their romance, every time she flirted with him after their Dad was gone, and didn't tell him who she was, that was another new betrayal.
We don't like the Dad. We have no reason to like him. The only thing we've seen him do in the story is take Heather/Molly away from the MC. What we know is that Heather/Molly probably loved him, was fucking him for MANY years, gave him every single one of her firsts (instead of giving any of those to the MC), and gave him two daughters (instead of giving any to the MC).
As far as we can tell, Heather/Molly was probably originally planning to give Eve and Daye to their real Dad/Grandpa, too, if he hadn't died. Assuming he really did die, since Heather/Molly has proven that she's absolutely willing to lie to the MC to protect their Dad. Then again, we have no reason to think she'd even be with the MC if their Dad (her real man) hadn't died.
The MC feels like an afterthought, always second place for Heather/Molly, to partially replace the man she really wanted.
All of Heather/Molly's actions benefited their Dad and not the MC, except where they couldn't help but benefit the MC.
She kept HIS secrets and protected HIS image until she died.
She never told the MC about fucking their Dad, and never told the MC that their Dad was Eve/Daye's real father, and never even told the MC who she really was...
So she wasn't really ever the MC's at all.
She was just pretending, and he was the unwitting consolation prize for their Dad being gone, the closest thing she could still get.
Hell, she even told BECKY, but not the MC, just to underscore how little he really mattered to her, and how far she was duping him.
For that matter, for Eve and Daye, it's even shittier, because Heather/Molly seems to be using them as objects, grooming them into loving the MC as some kind of "payback" because they should have actually been the MC's daughters.
At this point, if this is what Jonesy thinks of as an acceptable secret twist in an incest story, I'm actively worried about Siren Song.
Now, I could theoretically be wrong on some of this, but not by any means all of it. It's definitely cause for concern, and it 100% made me cancel my support.
