By Chinese lore the rat is crafty, also kind of a backstabber. Pig just does stuff at its own pace. Rabbits are lucky, not sure about how they are looked at in Chinese mythology, though its lucky in the 12 zodiac story since the dragon helps it cross the river while the cat gets pushed into the water/ left sleeping by the rat.
