I just checked my email and noticed a message from PayPal stating they have permanently limited my account, basically banned me from using it.

I only use PayPal for Steam and Uber these days. The only other thing I have used it for is a donation to this site back in June. (listed as a donation to 'cloudhost.systems')

Has anyone else experienced this?

It's probably this:

PayPal has been a bit weird to me for a while, doesn’t help that they owned Honey. But I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of people randomly getting banned

Ok, that needs to be more prominent
There could be an announcment or a forced thread or mass DM, but that would end in less donations. 🤷‍♂️

Does LC even receive the PayPal donations? It would be another weird thing if PayPal allows donations but banns accounts that donate

I have never been banned by PayPal in the 20+ years of using them, but then I have never used PayPal for anything dodgy.

The donations go to BoltFile, but in reality it is for LC. PayPal doesn't like sites like LC so it's forbidden to use it for LC. That's why Kav made BoltFiles.

Just an update:
Had a text chat online with PayPal CS(customer service), they told me that after a very thorough and serious investigation they decided to limit my account, no further details given.

I went to call them, there was an estimated 14 minute wait, but after going through the voice recognition robot, I got put through to a real person in probably less than 10 seconds... that was a bit strange.
The person who answered was NOT a typical CS person, they were a VERY well spoken British man, posh, and did not sound like they were in a CS centre, sounded like a very quiet office.
I wasn't actually calling about the limit on my account, I just wanted to download my data and that's all I asked for, but this guy was MUCH more interested in discussing the limitations on my account.
Didn't give any reason why it was limited, just that I was no longer "in business" with PayPal, and I can appeal the limitations if I wanted to.
I said fine, put an appeal in, but this guy sounded sketchy as f*ck, like the guy from Kingsman. Now have to wait 10 days for the result of the appeal...

I miss the good ole days when my data stayed between me, my horse, and god.

Did you win the appeal?

Paypal sucks anyway....

Shitty organisation, more than 20 years back, I could use them, to pay stuff, and they would send me an email, I would login, say yes, and it would be paid from my account. Now they complain not enough money and such. Like I'm gonna pay money to paypal, before I buy something... Sure...

Not the same, but I did have paypal around 25 years ago, and then deleted it, I don't know 20 years ago or so.

When I later recreated an account, it was a lot more difficult to use. Then when they started to demand some stuff or so, and lots of people deleted their paypal account, I also deleted it, it was maybe 5-10 years back, not sure anymore, never looked back....
