In normal life you have to go out of your way to discuss how old anybody happens to be.
With a few specific exceptions, I've rarely seen a Movie or Porn Video talk about how old the participants are once the Storyline has actually started.
The Topic rarely is ever mentioned in conversation. So why does it seem to be an issue in AVN's?
Is it merely to tickle a Fetish? I don't get it. Simply don't bring up age in the Dialog.
Characters look and play a part scripted for them and that is all, why go through all the added effort?
Is it necessary to the Storyline to even document the age of a scripted part?
Unless there is a Birthday party scene.

Other than having a Legal Disclaimer that all Characters in the Game are 18+ years of age at the beginning Title page.

Porn videos here in the US always have a disclaimer at the beginning that everyone is 18+. A lot is because of Traci Lords - she started porn at 15 with a fake ID. They found out after she was 18 - so all but 1 of the movie she did got pulled as illegal. She a few years later started doing mainstream movies. She has to be like 60 by now.

I know, that is why I wrote "Other than..." it being a requirement like a copyright notice or title page. But Once the storyline starts, why even Bother.
I get being able to change the name, but why set an Age at all?

Usually the story doesn't involve anything sexual so age is mostly irrelevant. You do see disclaimers in movies like "No * were harmed during the filming of this movie" if something outside of the norm is shown. yes, you can assume that to be the case, but disclaimers are there mostly for legal reasons, to prevent basic legal actions because of potential uncertainty.

Laws vary around the world. In some places loli will get game devs thrown in prison, in others the law doesn't care as long as real children aren't involved. Because of that payment processors and crowd-fuding sites will avoid loli porn for fear of being shut down. Age settings are a way to get around this by having characters 18+ by default while still allowing players to set the intended age of their own volition. Pretty sure I don't need to explain why having an underage LI might be taboo and lead to discussions within the game.

Mostly for any kind of kinks. But not everybody is okay with certain ages and because fictional characters can look like any age, this might help people to ease their minds.
I mean look at any anime/manga highschool girl, in most cases she can pass as a teen or an adult, only the clothings might help to guess the age.
Similar to for example DAZ models. They are typical instagram type of girls and you wouldn't know how old they are until their ages are told.
Is she a highschooler or a middle aged women... who knows...

About the "all Characters in the Game are 18+"... It's a bullshit disclaimer with no real value or legal implications, for some reason devs think this means anything in fictional imagery. 🤷‍♂️
Westy had the "all are 18+" in his game too, and it didn't help him do shit.

If it's a warning as in "sexual interactions with minors" yeah, that's at least something. People will know to avoid if they don't want that.
In real life products (movies and stuff) it has a meaning to ensure that no minors are involved and that the production company did background checks and all.

Also you might want to edit you OP, most seem to think this thread is about the disclaimer.

A lot is because of Traci Lords
I found about 10 porn actresses who started doing porn under 18, even one at the age of 14
Don't ask me names of actresses and titles of movies that i don't remember

It's a very curious thing, and it can actually lead to some very interesting discussions that, as far as everyone can predict, would end the same way. There's no logical reason for age to matter in many of the ways society imposes it.

The usual justification they'll give is that at 18 you're mature enough to make decisions and take responsibility for your actions... it's pure bullshit. There are people who haven't matured by the time they're 40, and I'm not talking about maturing like those who confuse it with not enjoying things because it's not what an adult does. That's also pure bullshit. Maturing is thinking about the consequences of your actions before committing them, facing the consequences when the time comes, and assuming your responsibilities. That's maturing in a nutshell.

Back to the topic, there's no difference between a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old. It's not as if there's a cosmic effect that changes you when you turn 18, or as if we're Pokemon and undergo an "evolution" when we reach 18. We're the same person. I don't know where this arbitrary morality of 18 being the age of majority came from, but everyone adopted it, possibly to save themselves a lot of legislative headaches.

The moment someone really thinks about it, they realize these are rules based on nothing real. For example, incest is illegal because of the genetic risks to offspring, which is why incest involving distant relatives is often overlooked. But no one thinks about it much because it's been marked as a "taboo" to talk about it, especially in the sexual sphere.

The worst is when you hear things like, "You can't do that, you're already X years old." What a lousy life it must be for someone who has to act according to their age in order to enjoy things. At my age, I still dress up for Halloween and decorate my house. I still like to watch cartoons from time to time, and I enjoy laughing and celebrating like an idiot at the little things. And I'm not a Peter Pan because of it.

I can only think of the most common cases: men who become dull and boring for fear of being judged, and sad, negative women who think they're no longer attractive. All because they hit their 30s or 40s.

The day I let the number of times the Earth has orbited the sun dictate how I should behave, I'll kill myself.
(I feel so good about getting all this off my chest.)

Yep. Age is brought up either to state that everything is legal. "All characters are 18 or over, even those that look like they are missing the 1 in front of the 8!"
Or to tickle the taboo, when it is stated that someone is under 18.
