The damn situation knocked on my door too. Recently, when I came home from work and parked my car, I noticed that my headlights lit up brighter as soon as I pressed the gas. So the battery alone doesn't give enough sparkle. I have to give gas for it to burn at full power. And that's causing the charging dynamo to overload the battery. I just changed the battery last year. I don't do long trips. I guess that's why the voltage drops. It's a bad situation.

I managed to get the hood open (never as easy as they say it is ) and the charger attached -- the plan is to drive to the auto parts store and buy a replacement -- assuming it charges enough to start. I knew this might happen when it started struggling at a 5 degrees F morning, 0 F was too much for it I guess
