And we got a little bit of snow over here yesterday!

Yeah it started snowing yesterday when I left. But only lasted for a few hours then started up early in the am today. But has already stopped.

Maybe that's due to how school years usually work, starting in the fall/ late summer and ending in spring/ early summer?

I'm pretty sure our calendars are based on the growth and reproductive cycles of flora, particularly agriculture. I could be wrong though.

It always happens when in winter you miss the heat, when in summer you miss the cold. With that in mind spring and autumn should have the best of both worlds.

I don't miss the heat in winter. I just hate the icy roads and working extra shifts because nobody else can get to the job safely.

Oh I hadn't thought about it that way. Where I live there's barely any ice ever so I didn't take it into consideration.
In your case shouldn't you be talking with your boss/manager about those extra shifts. They should pay you very handsomely to cover for other people. Otherwise it's not worth the effort.
