discussion What non-sexual stuff makes you quit a porn game?

I'm not sure I have quit it for good, but I kinda fell off Star Knightress Aura because the quests I'm at have no connection to corruption, so I don't feel the gameplay reflects the sexual journey the MC is supposed to be going through at all.

I don't really like it when the porn part of the games seem completely separate from the rest. For example, one of my favorite H games is Apostle, but it's just budget Persona with porn - I think there's even a version without sex scenes, and I have no doubt the entire game will work without a hitch, which bothers me a bit.

Another thing I recently complained in another thread is life sim games. You know, games that penalize you for not eating, drinking and sleeping. I can get behind rent if there's a sexual way to pay or lower it, but overall, most daily life necessities make the gameplay loop more boring, not more fun. The Company manages to simulate the daily life of a worker (in a bizarre situation, I give you that) without making you deal with too much of the boring stuff.

I agree with the sex aspect being separate from the main story. It's the story that's supposed to make the sex part better, thus the story should revolve around it. Porn game first, story game second. other than that, generic art/models, or a story that feels like it's going nowhere make me quit.

Awful writing. Both in the "I can't tell what this is but it's not English" sense and the "this is technically sound English but things it's saying are so dumb or boring I wish it wasn't" sense. So many devs badly need proofreaders.

not that its ever happened to me before but, if a dev ever gave up during the making of the game & completely abandoned it I would definitely stop playing

there is also:
art / graphic quality changes or things like cutting back or removing animations in updates.
quality of the writing changes.
too long between updates (not waiting 6+ months for 10 minutes of a storyline) page goes on my ignore list, no fucking around !!
adding bullshit to make your paying customers happy, do that shit before you start the game / story.

Worst one is having the music be aggrevating and loud, just because you can put in music doesn't mean you should go for whatever you think sounds nice. Especially if it's loud at the beginning

Grinding and Mini-Games

First and foremost are the problems with the plot. Yes, it's a porn game, but it doesn't take away from a good story.

Characters. They must be well-described, be convincing, otherwise no immersiveness is out of the question.

I will not name sandboxes (if they are well made - like Bright Past, Straitened Times, Club Detention), I just get a psychological release with their help after work. And spicy scenes - it's just like a seasoning to a good meal.

What else? Mini-games. They break the gameplay for me, distract me from the main plot.

Endless LI boosting. Love and Sex Second Base is a classic for me. I liked the game at first, but by about 2021 I had to start a separate notebook where I wrote down girls' names (I couldn't remember them anymore), their interests, etc. In 2022 I got tired of it and sent the game to the trash, and the notebook after it (only in the real trash). The developer Reunion followed the same path, an interesting story at the beginning turned into a fuckfest with 30 LI whose names I couldn't remember, I couldn't understand who they were talking about? Grandma's House went to the trash for the same reason.
