There was a joke on discord about this being tagged as HS while it is actually HS2. Season 2 has some new mods added that have improved the quality a bit, but the backgrounds and assets are definitely HS2.

Speaking of Season 2, it uses the same save directories and will choke on Season 1 saves. You can keep your Season 1 saves and just add on Season 2/ Chapter 10. Just have to keep in mind which season is running before trying to load a mismatched save. I think they did this for save import reasons, but it kind of made a mess of things if you're not careful.

If you play chapter 9 past the airplane scene you will get a message about saves being prepared for chapter 10. After that you will need to start a New Game in Season 2 and it will import your choices from Season 1.

What I was saying is that saves for both seasons are in the same location and will appear in both versions. Only the Season 1 saves will work up through chapter 9, and Season 2 saves will work from chapter 10 and later. If you want to replay any of the old chapters you will need to launch Season 1 and load them from within that separate game.

still can't figure out why i can't import to ch10 though, all I can think is that maybe the downloaded mod walkthrough messed up my saves, anyways appreciate your clarification
going to DL Ch9 again without mod and try to load later save, hopefully works

Yes, I've seen that issue with the walk-through mod. You might want to get rid of your persistent file: "APPDATA\RenPy\CompanionofDarkness-1670674895\persistent" file before doing the clean start. I toyed around with it a bit and it looks like at least some of the import info is in that file as well.

To be honest, at first I wasn't sure if I was even going to finish reading chapter 1. I admit my error: this is great storytelling. The renders are a little basic at times, although they do improve during the story development, but the characters, writing and especially the story itself are all excellent. My congrats to the Dev - you have a (totally unexpected) fan.
