Seriously, how guys learn how to cook? i can only do basic cooking stuff just to not be at the merge of death

I learned a lot of basics from watching my mom cook, but as I got older have been more interested in getting better at it. On YT the "babish" channel is good at teaching you how to cook things better and what not to do for some dishes. YT is the best resource for learning to cook because it's free and gives good visuals of what you're doing.

Sounds similar to where I live. It was down to -24c here a bit ago, although I'm not sure how windy it was (because fuck that, I didn't go out at all) It's finally heating back up, it's a relatively balmy -5c now. So maybe I can start going out again.

On fire again. It's about 80 F and gusts up to 60 MPH. Fun times. Fire isn't anywhere near me at least. It's headed straight towards 3 prison facilities with 5,000 inmates, though.

That's really nice to hear. I tend to shut down pretty quick when things go negative. but I'm trying my best this year to be honest with myself and keep trying to be me!

I love cooking even just for me! I think it's one of lifes joys to make meals to your specific taste! why should your taste buds suffer just because no one else is around?

Cooking is great, have always loved being able to cook. I recently made a cottage pie, delicious dish, fully recommend people try it if they can.

Gotta start small. Baking is a good way to learn basics, because baking is a science, if you don't follow a recipe exactly, it turns out wrong. Cooking is an art, so you can be more creative. I think starting out with some basic pastas and expanding from there is a good way to learn cooking. Can you make spaghetti or alfredo? Try making the sauce from scratch. Alfredo sauce is especially easy. Got that handled? Try a carbonara. Got that handled? Make the noodles from scratch. Like any skill, cooking is all about starting with basics and building on them.

In other news, been preparing for tomorrow's image share. Gonna be a big one for the finale.

Yeah the labor they do in the prison pays significantly less than that as well, it's how the corrections system stays profitable. Labor laws aren't applied equally to them in the US, so the prisons are free to exploit the hell out of them. Whether or not it's justified isn't for me to decide, though.

Yeah needing a fire to stay warm vs needing to evacuate from a fire are definitely very different. Hope everyone's staying safe as well, property is never worth lives. Appreciate the ones who risk theirs to keep others safe as well.

Well it has been an interesting few days for me. I lost electricity for a little over 24hrs. Luckily I already had plenty of propane to at least stay warm. I hope everyone is nice and warm or what have you and that everyone one of my fellow lurkers are safe. Going to poke around in here for a few minutes before I head out and go check on the neighbors.
