  • Donation Rewards & Vault Credit System Update
A new important update has been posted covering the Donation Rewards bug, the reset of incorrect Donation and Platinum credits, the upcoming reclaim system for previous tracked donations, and the new Vault freeze/maintenance behavior. The goal is to remove bug-generated credits, protect real donation history, and rebuild the system in a cleaner and safer way going forward. - Jack Of Blades

I love my collection of hardcopies of nes, snes, gb, gba, ps1,2,3, and original xbox. Playing them always fills me with nostalgia. However I also love making things run stuff not intended to run. Like my ps vita playing snes games on the emulator. What's your guys' thoughts?

I have a PlayStation 4 and with the jailbreak I played games for a long time without paying. The last time I played FIFA 18. As I got older, my playing time decreased. I wish I could go back to my childhood and play, but I don't think so. I also like games like Tekken 7-8-9 or Injustice style games. PlayStation 5 came out but I still have 4.

Emulation is awesome!
Not only can you play games you may not have had a way to obtain, but you can also upscale and even mod them sometimes.
Controllers similar to/exact copies of the original ones can be bought if you want the "correct" experience, however the CRTs may be a bit problematic if you are looking at older games.
They are expensive to ship and it's hard to find good ones in good condition. Hardware upscalers can be really fucking expensive too.

Definitely emulate. Fuck these companies trying to sell 30+ year old games at full price. Fuck these companies locking away their games and lambasting the public for wanting to play them.

Emulators are perfectly fine for systems that are now considered "antique," where getting the system and games in working order would cost a lot of money, IMHO.

Commodore/Apple 2, Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, Sega CD... up through about PS2/PS3 and N64.

Nothing wrong if emulation. If anything if you love gaming and/or want to preserve the history of games then you would do well to support emulation.

It's not just the benefit of preserving games, or being able to enjoy them, there is also the fact that game developers can learn from older games. Older games can inspire us to create better games for you gamers. If you look at modern gaming, everything with it is fucked up and wrong. I like being able to go back and learn from retro games when gaming was much better, more simple and more importantly, fun.

If you do decide to get into emulation. There's the following: Retroarch, Ludo, Batocera, Lakka OS and more

There's a channel over on Odssey with tutorials for Lakka OS and some retroarch

As for sources, I use CDRomance, and Archive.org for the most part when getting game ROMs.
