Am I the only person that refuses to play Renpy based games that have the in game menu (forward, back, skip, save etc.) deliberately removed by the devs?

God, fr. I play them anyways just if they really catch my attention, but I really hate that they take away the option to compulsively hit "quick save".. The OCD that Skyrim gave me moved on to Renpy games.

Probably not, I love renpy because of the skip unseen option. Too much text in most games.

In the end, I often extract the .rpa files and just watch the images...

i actually turn of the the quick menu lol you can easily turn it back on if you want

I'll play it anyway, but I really do hate when devs disable it. It's a QoL feature that takes nothing away from the game, but you're doing extra work to make your UI less convenient.

Because they don't want you to ignore what they've been working on by quickly moving past it. So they might be aiming to keep the play time longer. Sometimes the stories don't keep you hooked though.

Console commands can restore most of those lost functions, it's just a bit trickier. So yeah I'll still play that, as I'm not losing out on anything. Of course, some tricky devs find some way to block text skipping even with it enabled via console. I'm not sure how...

Sometimes it doesn't matter if you play or not. The creator already has his own audience and they can pay a lot of money for early access to games. There are Discord channels or something like that, where we see and play the latest games, sometimes we play 10-20 days late. If these people (that is, people who give money and support the producer.) If they are satisfied with this situation. What you and I think is not very important. If one of the members voices the issue that you are uncomfortable with, if the producer thinks that this situation disturbs the people he makes money from, he may turn back from his mistake. Otherwise we are just freeloaders.

ofcourse, after all its all about the product ppl pay for, we as bystanders can say whatever, not gonna change that the real vote are for ppl who fund the project

Apparently I'm in a minority. I remove it because if I need to go back i just scroll up. If I need to save it's right click, left click, right click again, and done. If i'm saving it's probably a choice I want to go back to anyways.

I NEED the forward skip. I can tell pretty quickly if the game has a lot of fluff in the dialogue, and I want to be able to skip ahead until something important happens
