I use some random name I take from a name generator

If the MC is male, I usually use a short version of my name, especially on a first playthrough. If the MC is female - my best friend's name, because I like it, it's relatively unique and unlikely to be used by another character in the game. In those games I'm also more likely to role-play as her, just for the fun of it. And before you ask - yes, she knows , has even watched me play and finds it hilarious .
