There's a lot of extreme metal, quite a bit of which would go into some black metal variety or descendant.

Maybe not metal by today's standards, but the roots are there. Sabbath, purple, zep, motorhead, Maiden etc.

Classic BM and others: Mayhem, Darkrhrone, Rotting christ, Burzum. Windir, Enslaved, Emperor, Immortal, Taake, Agalloch, Entombed, In Flames, Bathory

Today's artists: Drudkh, Mgła, Opeth(even the prog stuff, not the last one), Crust , Auðn, IXXI, Slegest, Mork, Blue Aus Nord, Black Royal, Wayfarer, Te Ruki, Morne, Meshuggah

Post metal: Cult of Luna, Isis

Had a major depressive BM bender for a year or so and especially Australian band Austere have seen heavy rotation. Others: Ellende, Thy Light, Woods of desolation, Coldworld, Totalselfhatred.

As I'm writing this Air not meant for us by Fires in the distance is playing.

For some reason the " big acts" often do not work for me.

where sabaton? hammerfall? no listen to same music as me?! is okay i will deam about fucking you and your wife side by side later only ones i recognise are the top you mentioned as in classic rock i think these days. the rest i have never heard of (except in fla-mes) but there are more swedish metal bands i think you should listen to! as in the two i mentioned earlier

I listen to lots of Swedish bands, there's even more than the ones already on my list. I might have listened to some Sabaton, but in general Power Metal is also one of those things that just doesn't work for me.

Just saw Swedish Truckfighters live this weekend. That was pretty awesome. Stoner rock, and the guitar player jumps around non stop like the energizer bunny all the while making faces that make him look like Charles Manson on a crazy day.

When I was in University I'd schedule my classes so I didn't have any on Wednesday and mark it as unavailable for my student work job. It was like a middle of the week oasis. It's a shame I can't do that with my real jobs.
