I never really got what people see in DAZ. To me, personally it is the faces. In pretty much every DAZ game I play, I can't get around to the faces of the characters. It looks like it is trying to be too realistic, but like, an outdated graphic realistic, like from an old game.

Even the ones I played, where I liked how the characters looked (Fresh Women, Melody and DMD being probably the best examples), I never thought they could hold a candle to stuff like Eternum, Pale Carnations, or even Harem Hotel, The Headmaster or Stray Incubus. All the LIs in those games appeal to me in a way that I never got around with the LIs in most DAZ games I tried to play. I think that HS out of the box already looks at least decent enough, while DAZ requires a lot more work to make it look good. This is possibly a complete bias on my side, because of my own personal tastes and what appeals to me, but that is just how I view things.

That said, I don't want to shit on DAZ and sound like a dick to people who like it. Like I said, there are some games where I think it looks good. So what I want is to ask for recommendations on where you guys think DAZ hits it out of the park, so that I can take a look, and possibly give it a chance to expand my horizons.

Most DAZ3D creators use models that look very simalar to each other no matter how much you change their hair. It's pusre lazyness. I try to cusomize everything about my characters, including face structure, skin color, eyes color..basically everything, which is something I love about DAZ3D. You can't really do that with HS. I've spent over a week working on one character multiple times. I do the same with environments. You've got to remember most people now a days are lazy and love cutting corners. Those people usually fail. This is what my characters look like as well as my custom environments.

I feel almost the opposite, it takes a special dev working with HS or HS2 to get me to appreciate it over DAZ. A good dev with DAZ and do special things with the characters' expressions that I rarely see with HS. Found in Translation and Friends in Need are two games with devs that can really knock it out of the park.

I like Abere's work too, it's got a distinct feel to it. Oh yeah, Cheeky Gimp does a great job on Where the Heart Is, in my opinion, especially since he's been reworking the first few chapters. Oh man, I forgot Desert Stalker and Chasing Sunsets, those are top notch.

I completely agree. there is more "magic" in HS, and in DAZ there is something like the uncanny valley effect

I think I have seen some of your suggestions while looking for new games to play. Gonna take a deeper look at them, thanks.

I think that good devs can make good work with whatever they have in their hands, my point was more of a general perspective. At least to me, HS looks better every time it goes against DAZ when it comes to the average game. Like I said, I liked Fresh Women, Melody and DMD well enough, but those a pretty high end ones, DMD and Melody's devs have worked on several games already and honed their skills, and Fresh Women is on Steam with over 10k reviews. But I have seen some faces in various other DAZ games that were just nightmare inducing.

Yes, like I said originally, it is the faces for me. A lot of the faces of LIs in DAZ games I have seen around are just abominations, couldn't get into them at all. I can't really put into words, but it looks like something that is obviously fake, trying to pass for real. Of course there are exceptions, I have mentioned some of them, and I don't have knowledge over every single DAZ game that exists, but at least the ones I saw, most of them couldn't captivate me on visuals.

I suppose it is more a mix of the developer's proficiency with the tool, the budget, time and hardware constraints. DAZ can produce really good renders, for example "Game of Hearts" comes to mind. But on the opposite end, I couldn't even play "WVM" because the faces fell flat. For me, the uncanny valley was mainly produced by the lips, and the overuse of duckface.
With some tweaking, it can also produce fantastic renders in a different style, like "Summer In The City" or "Theater of Sinners"
And yeah, Harem Hotel is a peak HS example, but there are hundreds of bad examples as well.

I started to have some problems with old daz games, but that is because now i see the whole potential of it. I hate HS and i dont really like the hentai games, but daz and 2D handrawn games are just amazing. The variety to each model is beyond this world. I think its more about the person who develops the game

I try to cusomize everything about my characters, including face structure, skin color, eyes color..basically everything, which is something I love about DAZ3D.
And this is why I prefer DAZ games over all the games that use HS or other creation sources. And specifically why I like Abere Lucifer created games.

I seem to have a good memory for faces and it gets distracting and removes immersion if I think I have seen that face before. HS games often have every woman look like they are all related and the same age and variations of characters in last few games I played.
