I had the Criterion Special Edition Laserdisc, my ex friend stole it and sold it. But at least i have the Japan Special Collection, the first issue Japan CLV, and the Criterion CLV. Wish i could find the 3 disc Trifold CAV Criterion again and not have to pay a hundred dollars for it. I have always wished i had seen a 70mm print..
i see you're a fan of good cinema friend

What really got me into Anime, hacked up anime like Voltron. GoLion still has no proper release because of rights issues. Hard to find out of print US DVD only, no Japanese Blu-Ray

Top favourites, I'd probably have to go with Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I like Brotherhood, too, but the original FMA is what really got me into anime. I watched other animes as well, but it's what really drew me in. And yeah, the Endless 8 is a terror, but I still love the show, the movie, and spin-offs.

i remember the days when anime came on bootleg VHS tapes
Lol, I was talkin' about that earlier. That Tenchi Muyo VHS wasn't actually a "Tenchi Muyo" VHS. lol Piracy was easier back in the day. Let's all have a moment of silence for RECORD

Kobayashi Dragon Maid is my favorite. Chobits was the first ever one I watched, but Kill La Kill is what really made me interested, after that is when I started watching alot.

Anyone around from the Yamato days? Still can't believe they held one of the first anime conventions in Texas....

Love Tenchi spent way too much to get the remastered OVA Blu-Ray, have the Funimation and the Japanese release. I even have the THX Laserdisc box. Boy was that expensive. But the picture and sound are so much better than the initial pressing its like night and day, i might even prefer it over the blu-ray cause resolution isn't everything.

I'll have to go with Cowboy Bebop. I remember watching it when they aired in on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network all those years ago. I was like.. damn, this is badass.

Did pioneer produce it for blu-ray? I only ever had the videotape.

Edit: damn sho nuff, holy crap it's expensive

Oh, let's see... favorite of all time is Ergo Proxy, but Serial Experiments Lain is also really good. For something lighter I liked Spice and Wolf and I''s Pure. Masakazu Katsura is a god as far as I'm concerned.

One piece easily, peak fiction

But my first anime was Pokemon(it was XYZ that led to me to watch other anime)

Yeah i recently got the episode where they introduce Faye with the original Stereo PCM Japanese mix. I might prefer it over the remix. No English audio, its a Japanese Laserdisc. Looks to be the same transfer as the first DVD. The blu-ray picture is so much better. Cowbow Bebop, i also have the Aisha Clan Clan episode of Outlaw Star.

i liked Ergo Proxy for its style. on first watch many years ago i didn't get a lot of the philosophical elements. on rewatch many years later i came to understand it better.

Yeah, there's a lot going on and references to things that I didn't get the first time around. I'm sure I'm still missing stuff now.

Love the opening and closing to Spice and Wolf, wish we got another season instead of a remake.

its an interesting dynamic when you watch certain anime many years apart, at different stages of life and understanding.
