I used to be able to play them for hours, but nowadays I just can't justify the time sink. It all just feels like too much padding for too little reward, sometimes 40 minutes of play just to get a singe static CG.

Very awkward controls, generally low resolution renders. I tried a couple of games on this engine and decided to stop further experiments. I stick to RenPy and Unity.

There's always exceptions, but yes generally there's too much walking around aimlessly. I don't have the time or patience anymore.

Yeah I usually skip RPGMs unless there's some real degenerate shit in it that's my cup of tea.

It's been a long time since the time investment was worth it. I do like a few though, Futa quest, Claire's quest and Roundscape adorevia has some nice kinks in them and pretty good art

Didn't Roundscape start replacing all their old art with AI stuff a couple months back?

Haven't played it in years. A shame if that is the case. Really liked some of the art. But it was often of varying quality due to many different artists i think. But that also made it quite fun :)

i started playing some of them recently, just finished black souls 1 and started playing the last sovereign

My tolerance for them is much lower nowadays. I'll keep playing a mediocre renpy game for awhile to give it a chance but an RPGM has to be very good or i'm done with it.

I never really been able to play them, just never found one that was worth the time sink.

If you have to force you to play the game you are working and not playing. I see no point in that

it doesn't help that most of them are very lazy asset flips that don't even bother to remove menu options that have no function. there's very little point in making game sin rpgm nowadays when there are better engine options out there

Yeah. Used to love them, but I think I burned myself out on too many of them that were just badly designed. Huge game worlds to trudge through with hardly anything to interact with, inventory and combat systems despite there being no items or combat, waves of mandatory combats with zero depth or fun factor, etc.

I still think there is enormous possibility in it. There are areas where it is better then the other alternatives. The are some problems (like the resources forces you to make a "medieval fantasy", wich I like very much, but still, it is quite the hard limit.

But the main problem is, it takes a lot more work to make even a decent game, than in Renpy.

Still, there are some decent ones in the brewing right now, and The Last Sovereign is as great as it could be (but one can argue it's a normal game with adult elements and not a real 'fap' game.).

I played a couple with cheats that allowed me to teleport but it still felt more like a chore than a good VN/story game, with half of them not even supporting insta appear text

Almost all of them I hate the menu sound affects. Just too jarring. The only good one I enjoyed was the zombie island game and that took a while to get everything.

I hate RPGM so much. There are some games where I was like, "Damn, the renders look good and the story sounds interesting" and then I see that stupid RPGM tag aaaand I'm out.
Crappy controls, the lack of saving during dialogs and you can't even skip properly. And to add an insult to injury, most of the devs use the free roam only to extend play time by filling it with stupid random encounters, roads leading nowhere and completely obfuscated objectives.

Many RPGM games are just grindy. So much so that it kills any joy the game can gave. Just a few RPGM games i can play without quiting them
Besides that, I hate that 98% have the same sounds. That show that the majority of RPGM games are just lazy projects. I understand that RGPM is easy to use , but put some effort to make it stand out

I used to play a lot this kind of the games but now is really hard to find a good game on rpgm, most end up abandoned or with some boring cg's instead of well animated scenes.

Never did like rpgm. Needs to be pretty simple and quick for me to bother. Guess I used to be slightly more willing to grind but never been interested in something with 50 hours of actual gameplay. Did really enjoy how Free Fuck Ticket was done in rpgm. Works well enough and the content was great.
