Does anybody else read the occasional Visual Novel that is not a AVN.

The very first VN I experienced was Doki Doki Literature Club and loved it. Likewise Steins Gate was also an incredibly good read.

I am currently reading When The Cicadas Cry and I enjoy how unsettling and creepy it is, plus the two lolis are cute:

Little Lily Princess is a good wholesome Cute Non-NSFW VN.

Also Magical Diary is good, theres two. The first being Fem MC and the 2nd Male MC.

They both have light game elements.

Besides Steins;Gate, I also enjoyed the Zero Escape games. They aren't pure VNs though and the story goes a bit too off the rails by the third game.

Yes, 999 nonary games was very good especially if played all the way through to the true ending. I never played the other games in the series.

hum... You mean SFW visual novels?

Not necessarily. I would consider Fate/Stay/Night to be a perfect example. It is a long AF Visual Novel but has some some H scenes but you have to be reading for 20 hours in between scenes. Is it SFW -- no but it isn't a Adult Visual Novel that would exist in the contemporary sense that you see on 95Z or LC. Hence my ambiguous title.

Then "Saya no uta". It's a bit gory(but almost never explicitly) and it's NSFW, but focuses heavily in the story and I think it's actually SFW in some routes, but can not confirm it.

I have certainly have heard of it. Never played myself but from what I see on VNDB it is a game that would fall into what I am referring too. I see that it is rather short so I I will give it a go after I am done When They Cry.

Naturally. To mention some i can think of:
  • Yandere-chan
  • Little Busters
  • CLANNAD
  • The Letter
  • How to date a Magical girl
  • How stories die

Doki Doki Literature Club is great. I enjoy the psychological horror. How to Date a Magical Girl is in that genre as well, but it has dating sim elements.

Haven’t read Steins Gate yet. It’s on the to play list.

Ah yes, this VN...I would play all the way to CH 4. then after that i step back, reflect on life for several days, forget. A year later, come back and play the same 4 Chapters before repeating the eternal cycle.

Hmmm, I think the first one I played was Famicon Tantei Club for the SNES.

Then 428 Shibuya Scramble
Zero Escape
And there's a popular time travel one with a trap... I can't recall the name of.

Im playing through Ace Attorney. I see why it is a fan favorite
OBJECTION! I completley forgot about Ace Atorney Trilogy. Also make sure to play all three.

Also for anybody who likes stuff like AA you should check out a new game "Murders on the Yangtzee River"

Yea I can see why, the game does get pretty fucked up at points. I just finished chapter five and puts so much of the wtf aspects of chapter two into a different perspective -- for better and worse.

Nope. Definitely not for me.

Honestly? If you remove the sex from Fate/Stay Night, you basically lose nothing at all.
