I've been into A Family Venture. It's not finished and gets like 1-2 updates per year. But what's there is solid.

My vote would be for Leap of Faith, but be prepared to never play another game as good again.

It depends what you want from your game - Price of Power is beautiful to look at and thought-provoking but a lot to read. Hailey's Story or Life With Mary if you want a nice game with a happy ending (Hailey is really funny as well) but not profound. There are a lot of good games to choose from.

The first one that impressed was Deluca Family. Its pretty well written for what it is and the characters are believable.

When you ask people about their favourite games they tend to go to older games which makes sense as they usually are finished or at least well developed, but what are some recent recs you have?
