Hey guys, this is just a very quick question. Assuming you generate spicy AI images, where do you store them that can be hidden pretty well? Also, I need good security so no one can hack or look into it virtually or physically. I usually delete my images after I upload them so nobody can have evidence I made them, but now I want to keep them in a safe place. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Nowhere is safe. Particularly if you live in certain commonwealth countries.
If you do best not to make certain types of images. That's the only way to stay fully safe.

Correct the only safe way is not to male such images or even store them on your PC.

Not even cloud storage or using encryption is going to save anyone.

I've seen two cases were the state couldn't decrypt a Laptop but still hold the suspect under arrest.

Ultimately the suspect was charged and sent to prison.

I guess I don’t have to keep them for now. What the next best thing if I continue making these images? Do I use VPN? Have a burner acct?…

So if I keep making these images and post them here, how can I be sure they don’t trace it back on me? Assuming I deleted all images thereafter?

VPN is your best chance.
Because it's AI stuff the motivation in getting to you is pretty low.

I see thanks! Let me know if you got any other extra tips out there haha

I hope you're aware that deleted things can still be recovered with the right forensic software.
If you come under a spotlight deletion won't always save you.
It may be hard to hear but if you're in one of those countries you won't be safe if you make any pixels that are deemed wrong by their laws.
So unless the laws change you cannot do anything to be 100% safe, except not draw or render the images.
You could move to a different country. That could keep you safe until you decide to visit an unsafe country at which point you'll be arrested and charged with crimes committed outside their borders.
If you truly wish to follow your path it's a risky life that's calling to you.

Be careful of VPNs as well. As some keep logs of everything you do and are forced to give it up to police.

With AI renders and similar I simply don't give a shit who sees it (it's legal where I am), everyone that knows me including the family knows I'm a pervert anyway that embraces that label proudly. Hypothetically if it was real C P or similar sensitive info that part of the porn collection would be kept on an AES-256 encrypted thumb drive with a 50-character password (number of possible combinations: over 10^98, in physical terms over a trillion times more than all the elementary particles in the observable universe) and stored in a physical safe (actually got that idea from One Summer In Loliwood back in the day) and only accessed via offline PC (never wireless or ethernet connected), same if it was a crypto wallet that had $1M or more in Bitcoin on it. Even if someone knows of it's existence (1st line of defense: no one is looking for it) and they had the drive in hand it would take so long to crack even with Frontier working on it 24/7 my grandkids that aren't even born yet (maybe I'll be their daddy too? one can hope and dream) would be dead from old age by the time they did so, even though memorizing a random 50-char text string is a pita (writing that down anywhere makes such a pw somewhat pointless).

Yeah I only do logless ones. The "free" ones are most certainly not logless, they sell sites you visit and other data to advertisers. Anything "free" on the internet really isn't, you just pay them in data instead. Private Internet Access is logless, but that's $40 for 3 years last I renewed.

Yes. Sadly even most payed VPN store your data or even sell them.
Choose one, which has nothing from you. Pay in cash or crypto.
Choose one, which stores nothing. And sell nothing.
If you are in a country, where it is illegal choose one, which can hide your VPN usage. (make it lookalike not using VPN)
The right VPN is a delicate choice.

But if it is connected with the internet it is not safe!

Yeah in some police states no evidence is required. Luckily in the US if they can't get the evidence they have to let them go after a certain period or go ahead with a shoddy trial and probably be acquitted, even if the accused refuses to give the decryption passwords to a thumb drive or similar (I think 48 hours to get the charge list paperwork, not sure about the time limit to gather the evidence before the trial but it's usually measured in months, rather than years, thanks to the 6th Amendment), which in itself could be covered under the 5th Amendment (not obligated to provide evidence against yourself).

That's very helpful, thank you!

Making and storing these images should never be an issue... why and how would it?

The only danger I see is SHARING the images. Maybe that was assumed, so sorry if I missed that.

How could making and storing these ever get you into trouble? the only way gubment would know is if is they knew and how could they know unless they see it? am I being obtuse? I feel there may be more to this issue that OP is dancing around...

This is just off the top of my head, so please read this as a general intro and not a precise instruction to follow.

1. Use an OS that does not "dial home" with info about what you do with your system, i.e. use Linux. If you need to use MS-Win or Mac software, there are software solutions in Linux that will let you do that, such as Wine for ms-win or Darling(?) for mac, or a virtual machine.

2. Learn how to create secure passwords, and how to use a password manager. You must be ready to memorize at least two longer passwords fully: one for the full disk encryption, and one for your local password manager software.
If you choose the diceware method for your memorized passwords, it really has to be long enough, say 6 words plus preferably a few random non-letter characters and numbers.

3. Full disk encryption, this encrypts the whole system drive including the operating system. Also, any extra drive that this computer will connect to should also be encrypted.

4. VPN that you pay for, if it is 'free' they might choose to make money by selling something else, such as data collected on you. Choose a VPN provider that has gone through a recent third-party security audit from an established firm. Mullvad and ProtonVPN usually gets good reviews, and I know that Mullvad have software that make it easier to set up and manage, esp on Linux.

5. Online services that you use must be safe, and have close to zero connection to you. For example. If you need to use email on this computer, or need to give an email adress to register software that you will use on this computer, or if you from this computer will log in to forums that asks you to give an emailadress to make an account - you must create a new email adress (or several) that have no traceable connection to you. Protonmail is one of the usual recommendations here, but you need another email to register with them. That other email can be a disposable one, but you might have to try out several disposable ones to ge tone that Proton accepts. Don't give Proton an email that is connected to you, or even worse a phone number - this breaks your anonymity.
Payments online are really really hard to make anonymous. The only way I've read about that seems credible is Monero, a crypto currency. Crypto currencys are a world onto itself, and one has to read up a bit to be certain of how to use them without exposing ones identity and at the same time without loosing ones money.

Does all this seem a bit too much? Sure. But right now one unlucky guy in Australia is facing a possible long prison term over rendered underage characters. And several other countries have legislation that could be interpreted to convict people for material shared on sites like this and others.

Also, this was just a quick throw-together, not detailed instructions to follow. If you want to read more there's a lot written about it. For instance privacyguides[dot]org has some stuff that gives a basic orientation. I don't know if the forums over at wildersecurity[dot]com is still good, but it used to be ok. There are some subreddits too, but one has to know to sift the good from the bad there.

You can make a proton email account without using another email or phone number. Just select: maybe later.

It depends. Sometimes they do make you jump through more hoops. For instance, when doing this over TOR...
