Discount day just ended. Guessing there'll be another when staff is good and ready. Though I do recall reading they're nearly weekly, so maybe again next week? Might not be 40% off though.

You missed the discount. Go into the shop, click on a rank, look at the right site.
Under "last update" it says when the price was changed last time. That means during a discount day you can see when it started and on any other day you can see when the last one ended.

Yes, discount days are randomly once a week for at least 24h and a range of 10%-40%.
Because this time was so high, the next one will probably on the lower end of the range.

The fun thing is, here in Germany you boss might actually react like that if you aren't taking your vacation.
"You have 10 paid vacation days left, use them! That's an order."

Here in the US they only get like that if they are going to have to pay them out to you otherwise.
