What's your AVN Hot Take?

I have a hard time with the "Fear of missing out" in gaming. So I like AVN that have options where you never miss things. While branching stories are fun I never find myself replaying to see another branch.
I'll do you one further, I have an excessive fear of missing out so I actively avoid any games with sandboxes or too many branching paths.

Not sure if it's a hot take, but I think less is more sometimes. It feels like devs love to go for the harem style of game, but adding in a bunch of characters just means you have less screen time for each of them, and as a result it's harder to care about any of them. Having a game with a smaller number of love interests is often better if you are a good writer, because you can make the smaller cast truly shine.

some more realism, as in slower relationship progression is always good

That’s a solid observation. It’s kind of like the LIs become satellites around the MC rather than people with their own gravity. My hot take: branching paths are cool, but some devs spread too thin and end up with half-finished arcs everywhere.

Adding animated portions that aren't at least titillating is almost always a waste of dev time. Especially just showing a character swinging a sword at the camera, or running around.
