Whats the perfect number of characters in a scene??

Anything with more than three participants becomes tricky to set up, in particular not together with certain unfortunate habits. But a well-posed orgy scene is amazing.

Trying to make the MC the clear centrepiece of a bunch of women attending to him is probably going to end up ridiculous or pathetic. It becomes even worse if the female LIs are placed in a queue to patiently await their turn to service the male MC. On the other hand, something like an oral daisychain feels contrived. It can work in a setting where the participants would do it once on purpose, but that's about it.

So for a great orgy scene, you'd want to subdivide the participants in smaller groups (2-3 each). Just making it a bunch of couples fucking side by side is boring, too. So you'd want some interaction between the different groups - looks, a little bit of touching can work visually, but in a VN they can obviously also talk to oneanother.

Another issue were the culture surrounding AVN development is highly problematic when it comes to high-quality output is the number of penisses. Having a single penis for an orgy of 5+ people is just very limiting.

MC +2 is the ideal. With aphrodisiac it's the MC+4 or more (More hole more goal)

1 to 2 LI and MC is enough anything with higher number is just pure BS. Like theres only 1 dic what the others gonna do. Also its hard to whom should i focus on if there are so many LIs having sex at once.

I like any honestly, but if we talk about a male MC then MC+1 just works best most of the times, MC+2 can be done well, but anything more honestly is just a MC+1/2 with extra girls being there without getting properly involved xD

For female MC or scenes with other males then the MC it can go up.

Depends on the scene. Any number of characters are fine in a "general" scene, but if it grows beyond MC+6 or so, it can be unwieldy of everyone is talking. For lewd scenes, generally no more than MC +2, with clear exceptions for HAM and MASH - if you know, you know.
